Whitehouse Station, N.J. The afternoon ceremony took place on Saturday, July 12, at the Basilica of St.
Mary Star of the Sea in Key West, Fla.
with the Reverend John Baker officiating. The wedding reception was
held at the Ocean Key Resort.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a lace gown by Amy
Kuschel and carried a bouquet of
white and pink roses and white hydrangeas. Miss Caitlin Thrower, sister of the bride, was the maid of
honor. The other bridal attendants
were Mrs. Amy Durling, sister-inlaw of the groom; Mrs. Stephanie
Thrower, sister-in-law of the bride;
Miss Charlotte Hansen, formerly of
Westfield, Mrs. Laura Duffany of
Oreland, Pa., Miss Sarah Berkley of
New York City, Mrs. Lisa Michaeli of
New York City, Mrs. Nicole Querci
of Greenvale, N.Y. and Mrs. Rebecca
Redpath, formerly of Short Hills, N.J.
All wore pale mint Amanda Uprichard
gowns and carried bouquets of pink
roses and white hydrangea.
Chapin and Henry Durling, brothers
of the groom, were the best men. Other
groomsmen were Albert Thrower, Jr.,
brother of the bride; J.J. Zak of Jersey
City, N.J., Andrew Price of Far Hills,
N.J., Brett Royer of Boston, Mass.,
Russell Morgan of Sausalito, Calif. and
Christopher Dey of New York.
The bride attended Kent Place,
graduating in May 2002. She went on
to attend the Freeman Business
School of Tulane University, graduating in May 2006 magna cum laude
with a double degree in management
and marketing. She currently is employed as a territory manager for Life
Cell Corporation in New York City.
The groom attended the Hill
School, graduating in 2001. He then
went on to Lehigh University, graduating in 2005, and went to Bryant
University, where he received his
MBA in 2008. He works as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch Private
Wealth Management at 2 World Financial Center in New York City.
The parents of the bridegroom
hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Southernmost House in Key West the
evening before the wedding.
The maid of honor and both mothers hosted a bridal shower at the Madison restaurant in Hoboken in May.
The couple currently resides in
Hoboken and are planning a November
honeymoon to Thailand and Cambodia.

SCOTCH PLAINS – Congregation Beth Israel will hold a Shabbat
service specially designed for children from infants to age 6 and their
families tomorrow, Friday, October 10, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.
Called the Shabbat Shalom Club,
this service will be free and open
to the community.
The Shabbat Shalom Club, held
monthly, is led by Congregation
Beth Israel’s Rabbi George Nudell
and Cantor Matt Axelrod. Services
include age-appropriate prayers
and songs, plus a story with a kidfriendly Jewish message. Participants in the Shabbat Shalom Club
also enjoy a special Kiddush, complete with grape juice, mini challah
and matzo ball soup.
Because October’s Shabbat Shalom Club falls during Sukkot, children and their families also will
have the opportunity to eat their
treats in the Sukkah and celebrate
the holiday together.
“We started the Shabbat Shalom
Club last year. It was such a success among young families that we
were eager to continue the program again this year,” said Lisa
Strug, Member Relations chairwoman of Congregation Beth Israel. “In the Shabbat Shalom Club,
young children can start learning
Jewish prayers and customs and
can begin to feel comfortable interacting with the clergy. And their
parents can meet one another while
they, too, celebrate Shabbat.”
The Shabbat Shalom Club also will
meet on November 21, December
12, January 9, February 13, March
20, April 24, May 8 and June 19.
In addition, Congregation Beth
Israel conducts regular Shabbat
services every Friday evening starting at 7:30 p.m., followed by an
Oneg Shabbat. These casual services are held in the round and are
family-friendly. Shabbat morning
services are held weekly on Saturdays beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Kiddush luncheon. All
services are free and open to the
community.
Congregation Beth Israel is an
egalitarian Conservative synagogue.

About Pollinators
WESTFIELD — The Garden
Club of Westfield will host Jeannie
Geremia on Tuesday, October 14,
at noon, at St. Helen’s Roman
Catholic Church, located at 1600
Rahway Avenue in Westfield.
Mrs. Geremia is an expert on the
topic of vanishing pollinators and
is recognized as an author, photographer and public speaker who
presents a passionate concern for
environmental issues. She will
speak about the precipitous decline
of monarch butterflies and the absence of bees in area gardens.
TIME-HONORED TRADITION...Volunteers from the Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains built the synagogue’s Sukkah (booth) on the
outdoor patio September 28, in preparation for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
Throughout the week-long celebration, which began yesterday at sundown,
congregants and religious school students will be able to eat in the Sukkah.
