Shriram Foundation Shriram Foundation is the CSR arm of the Shriram Finance Group. The Foundation is dedicated to the cause of education and empowerment of underprivileged children, youth and women in rural communities across south India. The Foundation is continuously working towards creating inclusive and democratic learning spaces where each child is empowered and happy. Shriram Foundation applies its core strengths for social good and innovation in the field of education and community development. Shriram Foundation's Board Mr.R.Thyagarajan, recipient of Padma Bhushan award, is the Chairman of the Shriram Group of Companies, the Founder–Trustee of Shriram Foundation and is the promoter of the Shriram Group. He has vast experience in the Insurance and Banking Industry as well as profound understanding of the Hire Purchase Business. He has worked with New India Assurance Company Limited in the capacity of Divisional Manager for over 15 years and was also with M/s. J.B. Boda & Co., for over 10 years. Mr.Thyagarajan was the visiting faculty at the Asian Institute of Insurance, Philippines, The United India Insurance Learning Centre and The New India Insurance Training Centre. He has conducted many programs on Consequential Loss Insurance for insurance Companies in India, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Mrs. Akhila Srinivasan, is the Managing Director of the Shriram Life Insurance Co.Ltd., Managing Trustee of Shriram Foundation. Mrs. Akhila also served as the Hon. Consul for the Netherlands and the State President, Tamil Nadu Chapter of the Art of Living Foundation. She also serves as a Director with other companies in the Shriram Group engaged in Property Development, IT and Education. Mr. S. Natarajan is a practicing Chartered Accountant. His clientele include banks, corporate organizations, and high net worth individuals. He has resolved income-tax, central excise, customs and enforcement issues of various corporates. He joined Binny Limited in 1988 as one of the Promoter-Directors and was responsible for the company’s revival. He is associated with Shriram Group Companies as a Group Director since 2002. Mr. G. V. Raman is a Chartered Accountant of great reputation. Since 1980, he is in the Board of Shriram Companies. In 1992, he was appointed as the Executive Chairman of Shriram Investments Limited. He was the District Governor of Lions Club International, Dist.324A & Managing Trustee of Lions Foundation for the Blind, Chennai. Mr. S. Bapu is a Retired Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. Currently, he is working as an Advisor for the Shriram Group. He is a Postgraduate in Commerce who has vast experience with long years of service as a member in the Central Administrative Tribunal. Col. M. S. Ashok has dedicated 20 years in military service and 15 in anti-poverty activities mainly in India. He is a postgraduate in Rural Management (Institute of Rural Management, Anand, India); and in Defense Studies (Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, India). He is the Director of Cirrus Management Services Pvt. Ltd. (established 1998, commenced operations 2002). He is also involved in the design and management of a microfinance pilot for the Shriram Group (Shriram City Union Finance Ltd.). Mr.A.N.Radhakrishnan serves as the Secretary & Correspondent of the reputed P.S.Senior Secondary School and Advisor to the Shriram Group. He had served the Ramco Group for 22 years and has been associated with the Shriram Group for more than 28 years. A Post Graduate in Mathematics, Mr.Radhakrishnan is the Managing Trustee of Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance. Dr. V. Shankar, a national talent scholar, has served as Chairman of Deccan Chargers Sporting Ventures Ltd. and has successfully promoted Croslands Research laboratories Ltd., listed as the ‘Most Admired Company’ FE-BRIS (Financial Express) Survey 1996 for midsized companies on the stock exchanges in India. Dr. Shankar has also been awarded the Principal Wagh’s Award for best paper in Labour law. Along with serving on the Shriram Foundation's board, he is also the President of The South Indian Education Society (SIES) and of Sri. Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha Mumbai. ***
