How Does It Work?
You might be wondering why businesses give
away perfectly good merchandise. The answer
is simple: they have no choice. Big businesses accumulate a
lot of extra inventory in their stores and warehouses because
of overstocking, returns, and discontinued products.
They can’t just throw it in the trash. And they don’t want to
flood the market with discounted items that could hurt sales
for their current products. So they donate it. The federal
government even gives them a tax deduction as an incentive.

We’re the National Association for the Exchange of
Industrial Resources. As a 501(c)(3) charitable
organization, we are in the business of empowering
generosity. We collect donations of excess
inventory from manufacturers, wholesalers, and
retailers and redistribute it to more than 15,000
schools, churches, and other nonprofits across
America. All merchandise received through
NAEIR must be used for the care of the ill, needy,
or minors and cannot be bartered, traded or sold.
