A very special thanks to all of our wonderful Sponsors for your
continued support !!!!
Our outreach in Juarez is making a difference in the lives of many
children and their families. These children don’t stand a chance
without God, a safe place to live, nourishing food and an education.
Your support, no matter how large or small, is making the difference.
God Bless,

Wellness Coach, Deborah Haddock & St.
Mark’s invite you to join us on a life changing
journey!
Wellness Coaching is a relationship
between an individual and a trained coach who
assists you in clarifying values, setting goals,
and changing behaviors. It is specifically
designed to help you decrease unhealthy
behaviors and increase more helpful behaviors
in the physical, emotional, spiritual,
or social aspects of life. Wellness coaching is
time-limited and is NOT pastoral counseling or
psychotherapy.
Topics are as varied as the person seeking
coaching, but issues commonly addressed by
wellness coaches include:





Managing stress
Balancing work/life
Creating exercise and healthy eating
plans
Developing meaningful connections with
others
Developing meaningful spiritual
practices
Deborah Haddock is a member of St.
Mark's and received her Wellness Coaching
training through the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
MN.

coaching or to make an appointment, you can

Three Possible Outcomes
As you begin to emotionally stabilize, it is
important to look at the future and decide how
this experience of separation or divorce will
affect the rest of your life. Keep in mind that it is
your choice how this experience will affect your
future. H. Norman Wright discusses three
possible outcomes for the experience of
separation or divorce in your life. Which will you
choose?
Practical Help
Don’t underestimate the value of giving
practical help, But be observant. The kind
of help needed will vary from one person to
another.
Barbara Johnson shares, “I wish people
would have just come and told me they
love me and that God loved me, and then
help me feed the dog, take care of the
house, dump the garbage do some things
like that. Doing practical things would have
been good because so many things were
causing turmoil for me rather than comfort.
So I learned that the words should be few
and that it is better to do practical things to
help the family. Bring some casseroles;
feed the children; do the laundry.”
If you could use practical help, ask for it.
People want to help and usually find it
easier to help with a specific task or
responsibility.
So in everything, do to others what you
would have them do to you, for this sums
up the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:12
Receive help with open arms and an
appreciative outlook. Offer help with the
same caring attitude.
Lord God, even when I’m not sure how
another person will respond to my
overtures, give me the courage to find a
practical way to help and to just do it!
Amen.

Your life can change for the worse, which
means you continue to let the situation
control and dominate you. You become
so immobilized and damaged by this
experience that you continue through
life crippled emotionally, mentally, and
spiritually.
Your life can stay the same. You aren’t
damaged, but you haven’t really learned
and grown through this experience.
Your life can change for the better. That
means you eventually move away from
asking God, why did this happen, to the
place where you can say, how can I learn
from this, how can I grow through this,
and how can God be glorified through
what I have gone through?
Claim this Bible verse with the psalmist:
“It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might
learn your decrees” (Psalm 119:71).
Dear Lord, this whole experience has been
horrible, but it happened and it’s still happening.
As I live today and as I look to the future, I pray
that my life is changing for the better. I know this
is possible because of who You are. Amen.
By Dr. Scott Turansky
Have you ever thought about the difference between punishment and discipline? There’s really
quite a difference. Punishment gives a negative consequence, but discipline means to teach.
Punishment is negative; discipline is positive. Punishment focuses on past misdeeds.
Discipline focuses on future good deeds. Punishment is often motivated by anger. Discipline is
motivated by love. Punishment focuses on justice to balance the scales. Discipline focuses on
teaching, to prepare for next time.
The child who teases relentlessly, the child who whines for a snack, and the child who bickers
with others all have one thing in common: a need to change patterns of behavior and a need to
change the heart. Some teachers/parents only use punishment or anger to motivate their
children to act differently. This attitude says, “If I just point out the problem enough times, he’ll
eventually change.”
What these kids really need is firm correction with a positive focus. Be sure to tell your children
what they should do in place of the unwanted behavior. Teach them right responses to replace
the negative ones. Have them practice doing the right thing before they are free to go. It takes
more work to discipline instead of punishment, but the rewards are certainly worth it. Children
grow and develop new patterns of healthy responses.
A Blessing for Your Child:
Lord,
Lord, I pray that You would give (name of child) a heart that desires to obey
You. Put into him (her) a longing to spend time with You, in Your Word and in
prayer, listening to Your voice. Shine Your light upon any secret or unseen
rebellion that is taking root in his (her) heart, so that it can be identified and
destroyed. Amen
