OCTOBER MEANS BOOK FAIR TIME!
Here are the dates to remember:
All For Books Coin Collection—this starts our fall fair out every year. Coins are collected in the classrooms and
for every dollar that is donated, Scholastic gives a book to a designated charity. PLUS, for that same donation the
classroom teacher is able to choose an equal dollar value of books for their own room! Donations are themed
according to this schedule: Monday-pennies, Tuesday-nickels, Wednesday-dimes, Thursday-quarters and Fridayany and all coins. This starts Monday, October 13th.
Volunteers are needed to work at the fair. Shifts are short, the work is pleasant and you get a 20% discount on
your purchases. Please sign up at the online volunteer spot - here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/JV2on4
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and
reminders. Easy!
Sale Dates—The students will be able to preview the books with their classes on October 20 and 21. We will be
open for sales as follows:

MORNINGS WITH MARK & STACY
As a way to get feedback about how our school is meeting the needs of families, Mark Lichte and
Stacy Yearling will be hosting quarterly, informal discussions from 7:15-7:45 in the conference room. It’s a
chance to discuss relevant issues related to Lake Country and share in the things that are going well. We will
focus on a theme, but if time permits will have a chance to discuss your questions or concerns. Any
parents/guardians or community members are welcome to join us for coffee and bagels.
Please mark your calendars with the following dates:
Thursday, October 16, 2014 - PBIS & school expectations
Thursday, January 15, 2015 - Budget
Thursday, March 12, 2015 - Curriculum

GOLD IN SEPTEMBER
We raised $1470 for the G9 project: Gold in September! September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with
the ribbon color being gold. Thank you for all of your support in making September gold, raising awareness for
Childhood Cancer, and helping to unite organizations in supporting children battling cancer. We will be having our
all school assembly on Tuesday, Oct.14th to celebrate.
“BUGSY MALONE” MUSICAL
The show will be November 7, 8, 9 in the LCS Cafetorium. See attached form to order your tickets!
CONGRADULATIONS!
Congratulations to seventh grader, Teagan Brohman, who
participated in Northwestern University’s Center for Talent
Development’s Gifted Learning Links Program this past
summer. Teagan completed the distance learning Honors/AP
grades 6-12 course entitled, “Ecce Romani Latin I” in just 3
months time for which he was awarded two semesters of high
school credit. Lake Country School’s Education Foundation
(LCSEF) awarded Teagan a grant to help offset the cost of this
summertime academic enrichment opportunity. If you/your
child is interested in pursuing academic enrichment in the
summer of 2015, watch for upcoming announcements
regarding the LCSEF’s Academic Scholarship application. The
foundation and Lake Country School proudly recognize Teagan for his exceptional performance in this rigorous
undertaking!

Dear Parents/Guardian,
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 23rd from
11:00am until 7:00pm. Please Note: No classes will be held for
students on Thursday, Oct. 23rd or Friday, Oct. 24th.
You may now schedule conferences with the 4K through 6th grade homeroom teachers, 5th and
6th grade math teachers and specials teachers through Skyward Family Access. See below
for step-by-step instructions.
7th and 8th grade: Because these are done as group conferences with the teachers we ask
that you call into the school office if you would like to schedule a conference. This will be on a
first- come- first -serve basis, as there are a limited amount of time slots. As in the past, these
conferences are optional. You will be notified if a teacher is requesting a 15 minute conference
with you.
Online Scheduling: please follow these directions at your earliest convenience to schedule
conferences with the teacher(s) of your 4K through 6th grade child(ren).
1. Login into Skyward Family Access – The Skyward Link can be found on the Lake
Country School website.
2. Using the tabbed headings on the left hand side of the screen, click on Teacher
Conferences.
3. Your 4K-6th grade student(s) will have a tab to the right of their name entitled All
Conferences. Please click on that tab.
4. Next click Select a Time.
5. Now you can view the open time slots the teacher has available. You may want to go
back and view the open time slots for any of your other children to coordinate times.
When you are ready to choose a time slot, click Select and then Save.
6. You will receive a Teacher Conference Sign-up Confirmation email shortly after
registering.
7. If you need to change your time, you will now be able to click Unschedule inside the
Teacher Conferences tab. Save and begin again. You can also include a note to your
child’s teacher by clicking the Notes option on the right.
Please call the school office if you have questions. Lake Country School
