Some of life’s greatest miracles are quite small
WHO WE ARE?
Premature babies are coming to this world very
unexpectedly. They are so small and need much
more time and support to grow healthy and strong.
It’s a huge shock for parents!
Asta Speicyte Radzeviciene is a mother of 6 year
old Margarita who was born 3 months earlier and
weighted 960 grams, with her size she could fit into
the palm of the hand.
To support other parents Lithuanian prematurity
association „Neišnešiotukas” was founded in 2012.
We are volunteers and offer support, information
and comfort for families and preemies grow
stronger and healthier. Support new community
during traditional events.
IS IT A PROBLEM?
In Lithuania there are around 2000 babies born
prematurely every year.
15 mln. babies are born too early per year worldwide.
1 mln. don’t survive. Research studies say that in
2040 it will be 1 billion babies touched by prematurity.
This could happened for so many reasons. Very
unexpectedly…
We are concerned that still today in Lithuania many
pregnant women are not aware of potential risk
factors and how to prevent preterm birth. Parents
need better guidance how to care for their preterm
baby during their stay in the hospital and after
discharge as well as how to obtain support.
ASSOCIATION
VISION AND ACTIVITY
Our goal is to connect parents
with all necessary information
and support.
Association activity:
- parent support groups;
- education of health and full term
pregnancy
- public relations;
- membership in EFCNI;
- cooperation with other social groups;
- representing in health, innovation ant
other related events;
- organizing events: World prematurity day,
summer event, family camp, marathon
“Smallest Heroes”.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
Hospitals don’t have a social worker to
support parents. They are left alone!
“First Help” package is the most important what
parents of premature babies should get in
hospitals:

about prematurity and the care.
