Her skills have come a long way since Grammy’s kitchen, as she has learned from both her grandmother and mother, and nearly every cooking show on television. She also confesses to having a cookbook addiction. When not in the kitchen, Meredith likes to help non-profit organizations market themselves and communicate with their constituents. Most recently, she was the SVP of Communications and Marketing for the American Cancer Society in New England, and is currently consulting. 18 Keefe At Night • Spring 2014 • 508-935-0202 COOKING EVERYTHING PEACHES FRENCH COOKING 101 CK-10 • Class Held: May 8 3 Hours • 1 Session • Thu: 6:30-9:30 CK-11 • Class Held: Mar 4 3 Hours • 1 Session • Tue: 6:30-9:30 NEW! In all its guises, in all its permutations, what is at its core is one of the oldest stories there is: “Girl meets Boy, Girl loses Boy, Girl finally gets Boy.” What makes a good romantic comedy, often referred to as rom-com, instead of a bad one, is the same answer as any movie genre: quality writing, sparkling acting talent, and intelligent directing. We will start this film series in the very recent past, by watching “Silver Linings Playbook.” Then we will watch films from each previous decade, traveling back in film history, through the 1980’s “Moonstruck” to the 1950’s “Pillow Talk,” following the thread that will lead us back to the great screwball comedies of the 1930’s. By the end of the class, we will have reaffirmed the resilience and relevance of the romcom, and will understand a bit more why it persists as one of the most popular film genres. Doug Sanders has had a lifelong love-relationship with film, and has been a self-taught student of it for many years. He is also heavily involved with the local theater community as a director, actor and writer. He loves modern, foreign and art films, but also has a soft spot for the Hollywood films of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. In between films, he spends his time as an electrical engineer. KUNDALINI YOGA YG-03 • Classes Begin: Mar 11 (End Date: May 6) No class Apr 22 • 12 Hours • 8 Sessions • Tue: 7:15-8:45 KUNDALINI YOGA & ENERGY PRACTICES FOR HEALTH AND HAPPINESS YG-04 • Classes Begin: Mar 13 (End Date: May 8) No class Apr 24 • 12 Hours • 8 Sessions • Thu: 7:15-8:45 Recent studies have shown that the physiology of those who meditate on a regular basis can be as much as ten to fifteen years younger than those who do not. Regular practice of Kundalini Yoga offers many possibilities for a happier, healthier life. These are just a few: • Aids in Weight Loss (increased metabolism) • Increased flexibility • Stress relief • Headache reduction • Improved physical health • Control over moods • Strengthened immune system • Overcoming depression Kundalini is the oldest and most powerful form of yoga and incorporates all facets of yoga including movement, breath work, meditation and mantra. Practicing Kundalini yoga strengthens the nervous system and enables the practitioner to harness the energy of the mind and the emotions. Kundalini yoga releases energy blocks along the spine which result in a sense of well being and overall physical health. Kundalini classes are appropriate for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Please wear loose, layered clothing and bring a mat, pillow and towel or blanket to throw over yourself during deep relaxation. Kundalini yoga and acupressure work on the flow of energy which is vital for good health (mental and physical). When the flow of energy is working as it should, your mind, body and energy work together in harmony to create a sense of well-being and your glands and organs work as they should. Too often the flow is disrupted and negative patterns keep us stuck in emotional and physical ill health. This powerful, 8-week course will give simple approaches to greater health and happiness using yoga, breath, meditation and an acupressure technique widely used by the medical community called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). By releasing negative emotions the body and mind work as they should and often old negative patterns shift and even deep trauma can be released. Students report less stress, pain relief (both physical and emotional) and a sense of perspective they never had before. You have endless potential. Join us and find and learn what a very short daily practice can do to improve your life! Please wear loose, layered clothing and bring a mat, pillow and towel or blanket to throw over yourself during deep relaxation.
