Arboretum*** 6206 Oleander Drive Wilmington, NC Cost: FREE ADMISSION Time: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. *** Location: Near the corner of Oleander Drive & Greenville Loop Road _____________________________________________________________ Enjoy a tour through the gardens to discover the beauty of the Arboretum and ASL stories, poetry and/or jokes. Interpreters and Deaf Community will collaborate in providing information and skill development to enhance receptive and voicing skills. Course Description Current interpreters and interpreter students will have an opportunity to voice and sign in real time in a safe environment. As the Deaf Community tells ASL stories throughout the park, there will be opportunities for both expressive and receptive skill development practice. They will have a variety of situations to choose from, as performances will include poetry, jokes and story telling. Hearing participants will be offered the opportunity to share their stories, which will be interpreted in ASL. As a group, the participants will discuss their experience. The facilitator will guide the discussion as needed.
