TODAY IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2014
IT IS A “B” DAY
“LET’S MAKE TODAY A GREAT DAY, AS
ALWAYS, THE CHOICE IS YOURS.”
• This week is Spirit Week. Wednesday is
Sophisticated Day, Thursday is Class T Shirt
Day and Friday is Freedom Friday- wear your
red white and blue. Please participate and
show your school spirit.
• Olympic Night tickets will be available in your
Administrator’s Offices beginning today.
Tickets are free, however, you must show
Student ID in order to receive one and you
must be in good standing to be eligible to
attend. In order to be admitted to the event
you must present your Student ID.
The sewing and craft club is up and running! We will
be meeting Mondays after school in room 1711 and
1709. Bring your crafty ideas...new members are
welcome!
• Anyone interested in playing a winter sport
must come down to the Health Office during
a FREE period to check their eligibility.
• Attention juniors and seniors--Are you
interested in a career in Dentistry? Stop by
the School-to-Career Office in Room 1123 for
information regarding internship
opportunities.
Come on down to 31 Arnold drive to support the Middle
Island Fire Department by joining us at the Scary Haunted
Trail of Horrors October 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th.
Admission is $10. Come on down, unless you are too
scared!
• The first Environmental Club meeting will be
held Wednesday after school in Room 2404.
• BUTY will hold its first meeting on Thursday,
October 23 in room 2200 at 2pm. All
interested members MUST attend the first
meeting. There are some exciting changes for
this year so DONT miss it! Any questions, see
Ms. Caro Wright or contact Ms. Ioanna.

• If you write poetry, raps, songs, or short
stories, come check out Literary Club. Our
first meeting will be held todayin room 2200.

• Today, the Blood Drive will be held in the
Auditorium during the school day. If you are
16 or older and want to donate, please grab a
permission slip outside the Teacher’s Center.
Remember, one donation could help save up
to three lives!
• DRIVERS EDUCATION IS CANCELED ON
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2014.
Please see Ms. Valot in the PSPO to sign up. Twenty spots are
available to Longwood High School seniors.

Attention seniors: Are you a doctor of tomorrow? The Doctors
of Tomorrow Scholarship program sponsored by the Suffolk
Academy of Medicine is a competition open to all high school
seniors who are interested in entering the field of medicine. An
introductory symposium will be held at the Charles B. Wang
Center at Stony Brook University on Wednesday, November 19th.
Liberty Partnership Tutoring for
Social Studies takes place every
Thursday at 2 pm sharp in
room 1150 with Mr.
Matthews.
LIBERTY PARTNERSHIP TUTORING IN ENGLISH WILL TAKE
PLACE ON THURSDAYS FROM 2-3 PM IN ROOM 1102.
TFCU banking will take place in the
school store on Wednesdays for the
remainder of the school year. The
Teacher Federal Credit Union
representatives will be in the School
Store every Wednesday from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Come down and open an
account.
Attention Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors – A career is waiting
for you! Identify your strengths and realize your dreams by
taking the ASVAB on November 12th. The ASVAB is a series of
test developed by the Department of Defense that determines
the military jobs that you may qualify for and additionally helps
find out the career that is right for you. This is the only time
that the ASVAB will be given this school year at Longwood High
School. Sign up know in Counseling Center North – The
deadline is October 31st.
Students are needed to lead us in the Pledge of
Allegiance and assist in the Morning Announcement.
If you wish to volunteer, please see Mrs. Smith in the
Main Office.

Biology? Stop by the School-to-Career Office in Room 1123 for
information regarding an internship opportunity at Long Island Aquarium
in Riverhead.

information about an internship at a local Habitots
