Dunlop Sports Introduces the New XXIO Forged Irons
Combines easy forgiveness with the feel that mid-level to advanced golfers prefer
Dunlop Sports Co. Ltd. (Head office: Kobe, Japan; President: Yasushi Nojiri) is pleased to
announce the latest introduction to its XXIO Forged irons, which combine forgiveness and the
feeling that mid-level to advanced golfers prefer. The new clubs will be released in stores on
December 13, 2014.
Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for carbon shaft clubs are JPY 176,000 plus tax for the
8-club set (#5-9, PW, AW, SW) and JPY 132,000 plus tax for the 6-club set (#5-9, PW), prices for
the steel shaft clubs are JPY 144,000 plus tax for the 8-club set (#5-9, PW, AW, SW) and JPY
108,000 plus tax for the 6-club set (#5-9, PW). Individual clubs (#4, AW, SW) are JPY 22,000 plus
tax each for carbon shafts and JPY 18,000 plus tax for steel shafts.
The New XXIO Forged irons deliver both painstaking
attention for the feel and the XXIO series' distinctive
forgiveness.
In addition to the long flight distance produced by Dunlop
Sports' original Dual Speed Technology1, these irons are
engineered to match golfers' discriminating tastes for
attributes such as soft impact feel, head shape, and impact
sound.

Key Features of the New XXIO Forged Irons
1. Increased repulsion performance for more distance (higher ball speed)
Enlarging the thin area behind the face at the toe and heel also expands the repulsion area,
enhancing the impact in the lower face.

2. Newly developed shaft for higher head speeds
The newly developed MX-5000 carbon shaft and N.S. PRO 940GH DST steel shaft are more
lightweight than the previous model, with the center of gravity moved closer to the grip. Moving the
CG closer to the grip while lightening the shaft overall.

Flight distance performance is improved by lightening the shaft by 1 g and moving the CG 10 mm
closer to the grip, compared to the previous model.
N.S.PRO 940GH DST
Flight distance performance is improved by lightening the shaft by 1 g and moving the CG 5 mm
closer to the grip, compared to the previous model. In addition, the N.S. PRO 940GH DST steel
shaft employs a Natural Step Flow design which enables the performance tuning without changing
the step positions. The design of the shaft tips for the long irons (#4~#6) have been made softer to
increase the launch angle for more flight distance, while the shaft tips for the short irons (#9, PW)
have been stiffened to reduce flexibility, lending greater directional stability, with same look in all
clubs.

Swing MOI expresses the smoothness of swinging as measured from the shoulder as the center of rotation.
The larger the value, the more difficult the club is to swing; the smaller the value, the easier it is to swing.

Improvements to the back face structure to suppress reverberation while maintaining the soft
impact feel of the soft-iron forged body which is so popular among many golfers, further improving
the feel of the clubs.
