The Lund Lecture is an address given in honour of one of our past
Presidents Sir Thomas Lund CBE. Keynote speeches have been given by
senior members of the professions, including Lord Hailsham, Mr. Patrick
Steptoe, Professor Alan Usher, The late Lord Chief Justice, Lord Taylor,
Mr. Stephen Jessel, Lord Mackay, Mr Andrew Rennison and the most
recent being Professor Emeritus John Grieve CBE.
Bob is a consultant forensic psychiatrist and forensic physician with over
thirty years’ experience in both the NHS and Independent sectors. He has
worked extensively in high secure psychiatric hospitals, including both
Broadmoor and Rampton, where he treated the perpetrators of some of
the most notorious murders in modern times.
Bob is a BAFS Executive Council member and has served on the Parole
Board for England and Wales. He currently serves on the Mental Health
Tribunal Service, as a NHS Specialist Clinical Investigator for Deaths in
Custody, and is the Medical Director of East Anglian Forensic Services Ltd,
an expert medico-legal consultancy, specialising in complex case
investigation. He has just been appointed to the CQC as an expert advisor
and is one of a tiny number of forensic psychiatrists empaneled by the
National Crime Agency to assist the Police in complex investigations.
Bob was elected Visiting Professor of Forensic Psychiatry, at the University
of Lincoln, in 2004; and since then has been awarded a Travelling
Fellowship to lecture in New Zealand, and in 2011 was appointed external
PhD Examiner to the University of East Anglia.
His contribution to the Lund Lecture series is an exposition on the science,
law and psychopathology of missing body murder investigation.
Always engaging, often controversial- and never boring- Professor
Peckitt’s lecture promises to be thought provoking and a catalyst for
debate.
