Connecticut Water’s Maureen Westbrook Receives
NEWWA’s State Leadership Award
Clinton, Connecticut (October 15th, 2014)- Vice President of Customer and Regulatory Affairs at
Connecticut Water, Maureen Westbrook, recently received the State Leadership Award from the
New England Section of the American Water Works Association (NEWWA). The State
Leadership Award recognizes the contributions made by an individual to their state water works
association as well as the water profession in general.
NEWWA cited Ms. Westbrook’s contributions to both the Connecticut Section of the American
Water Works Association and the Connecticut Water Works Association in the state of
Connecticut. She has held the leadership position in both organizations in her 25 career at
Connecticut Water.
Eric W. Thornburg, President of Connecticut Water, stated, “Maureen has been a champion of
the drinking water profession in Connecticut throughout her career. In addition to her
contributions to both associations, she has been instrumental in advancing legislation and
regulations in the state that enhance the ability of Connecticut’s water utilities to provide a
reliable supply of high quality water to families and communities across the state.”
Ms. Westbrook is responsible for Connecticut Water’s customer service and regulatory affairs.
In addition, to her recent recognition, she has previously been honored with the American Water
Works Association Fuller Award, the most prestigious awarded by the Association, for her
contributions to the drinking water profession.
A resident of Westbrook, Connecticut, Ms. Westbrook also serves as the Chairman to the Board
of Education in her community.
