ROD AND REEL WAIRARAPA REGIONAL COMPETITION
RULES AND TIMETABLE 2014
Kourarau Lake will be closed to competitors in the section accessed through the farm to the West (to the
right looking from the carpark) of the public access point (ie no further than the fence at the North end of
the dam face), and by boat, from 5.00pm on Sunday 2th November 2014.
Access and fishing in the last week is available at the dam face public entry point from the fence (as
above), South to the stream mouth. Please note that there is no road access on the Eastern shore along
the road on the East side of the lake at any time, but that section can be waded from the public access
point.
Anglers will be fishing from a grassy shore. No wading will be allowed. Compliant long handled nets will
be required as the bank can be up to 2 feet high.
On the day of the competition, cars will be parked in the public car park and competitors will need to walk
around the farm track to the competition water – a 7-8 minute walk. A portaloo and chilly bin will be
available on the day at the competition water. My car will be available to take heavy/lunch ‘stuff’ around
if required.
The lake holds rainbows, perch and tench. Only trout will count.
Prizes for top 3 competitors and also (by ballot) for 3 controllers
