As the built environment continues to expand and the number of significant facilities, buildings and
infrastructure, grow in complexity, so too does the role of the facilities manager while also becoming more
technically focused.
The FMA is pleased to present FM in WA: Today and Tomorrow a one day conference tackling the
contemporary issues facing facilities management in Western Australia. The day will include insightful
discussion, case study presentations, and research and analysis of the direction of strategic FM in the context
of a rapidly changing built environment. Local and international expert speakers will include:

Will discuss the important role of FM in place making and why FMs need to understand how the built
environment they maintain can transform people’s lives.
Mike Schley, CEO FM:Systems, USA
BIM is coming soon to a building you maintain! But with no formal standards for BIM and FM, global
BIM expert Mike Schley will present his vision as to how BIM fits into FM and the benefits it provides.
Phil Crosby, Business Strategist, CSIRO, WA
WA is home to several remote scientific facilities including the Square Kilometre Array. Phil will reveal
the challenges and solutions to building, operating and maintaining sensitive high-tech facilities in
outback WA from the comforts of Perth.
Kathy Kusinski, MKDC design studio, WA
As the nature of office-based work evolves to accommodate technology, health and life-style changes
what does this mean for the FM? Kathy will explain how “activity-based workplaces” are making new
demands on facilities management.
Free form ‘Fast and Furious’ speakers will also be giving brisk and controversial views on who the winners and
losers are on the local FM scene.
The conference exhibition will showcase product and service suppliers while the conference drinks and dinner
will bring FMs together in a relaxed environment where they can continue to make valuable connections.
