Our Value for
October is
Autumn Term Newsletter No 7
School Open Day
On Thursday 8th October, we had a school
Open Day for new and current parents, to
showcase the learning experience in our
school. We had a steady stream of
visitors throughout the day and we would
like to thank our Year 6 House Captains
for showing them around the school and
answering their questions so competently.
Thanks also to Hannah Eveleigh and her
PTA team for providing refreshments and
to Jenny Owen and Cheryl Bailey for their
support on the day.
The feedback we received was very
positive and very complimentary with
every visitor expressing praise for the
polite and helpful manner of their Year 6
guides.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day
and the wide range of activities they were
involved in, which included Reception
children’s Fruit Salad Day, Year 2’s
dragons junk modelling and Year 6’s
watercolours on a space theme.

Parents’ Meetings
Please note the CHANGE OF DATE FOR
the YEAR 6 PARENT MEETING. Due to
new commitments that have arisen, it has
been necessary to change the Year 6
parents’ meeting from Monday 10th
November to Wednesday 12th November.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
After School Play
We are happy for children to enjoy the
grounds after school and have already
requested that you ensure your children
remain in the open area of the
field/playground where you can supervise
them.
Children are not permitted to play in the
Reception or Year 1 outdoor play areas
after school or to play with school
resources. These are tidied away at the
end of the school day and are for the
children to use in school time only.
Calling all last year’s Year 6’s!
We now have the CD’s in school for last
year’s Year 6 children to collect. One CD
has MOB photos on it and the other is of
their film ‘School Daze’. We only have
enough CDs to distribute one for each
child, so please could you pass the word
on that they are ready for collection.
Children should come to the school office
to request them. Many thanks.
Fairy and Make a Wish Foundation
We have been asked to pass this on:Radio Exe are working with Fairy and
Make A Wish Foundation. Make A Wish
foundation grant magical wishes to
children
fighting
life
threatening
conditions. Fairy’s Bake A Wish campaign
wants to build the biggest ever world
record breaking cake and we want your
child’s help!
We’re asking parents to submit their
children’s fairytale castle drawings. The
winning drawing will be the inspiration for
the record-breaking cake! The cake
sculpture will be created and on show at
Westfields, Shepherds Bush, London. The
winning design will also have the chance
to win a trip to London to see, eat and
enjoy the cake in all its glory!
All you have to do is go online to
www.radioexe.co.uk and submit your
child’s design for the chance to win!
Not a bad way to keep your children
entertained through half term.
Vehicle Complaints
The vehicle complaint received and
reported to you in last week’s newsletter
was from a resident living in Webber
Close not Homefield.
The Police
Community Support Officer has informed
us that this complaint has been followed
up and dealt with.
Information/Reminders
Don’t forget the e-safety meeting for
parents on Monday in the school
hall!
Discos are on Thursday. All children
will need to have handed in a signed
permission slip to attend.
Normal school day on Friday 24th
when we will be breaking up for halfterm.
Best wishes
Lindsay Gabriel
