Prof Faculty of Health Science and Medicine, Bond University and Adjunct Prof. School of Nursing and Midwifery, Griffith University Professor Murphy’s career highlights include a one year postDoctoral placement at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta, USA and completing several invited short-term missions for the World Health Organisation including investigation of infection control measures in several South East Asian countries during the height of the 2003 SARS outbreak. She has continued to lecture and work around the world. She is a member of the Editorial Boards of several leading infection control journals worldwide and is widely published in scientific journals and textbooks. She has lectured extensively to infection prevention peers and consulted to medical industry across several continents. In 2010 after almost twenty years of volunteer service to infection control she was elected as the first non-North American President of APIC, the world’s largest infection prevention professional association. Dr Evan Alexandrou RN, MPH, PHD, (MC). Evan Alexandrou is a Lecturer with the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Western Sydney – Australia. As an advanced practice nurse working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Central Venous Access and Intensive Care at Liverpool Hospital he divides his time undertaking clinical care of critically patients and also inserting central venous catheters. Evan is involved in clinical education at an undergraduate and post graduate level for a number of hospital based medical programs tutoring intensive care, anaesthetic and emergency medical trainees in central venous access and arterial access. Evan has significant clinical expertise in vascular access presenting at national and international conferences on his research findings related to vascular access. Evan has published a number of papers in peered journals on vascular access device insertion and maintenance.
