Creative Specifications
Overview
These creative specifications are provided to guide you in the production of
banner, full-page, medium rectangle (MREC), and video ads to run on the iAd
App Network, and audio ads to run on iTunes Radio. Any files uploaded to iAd
Workbench must meet these specifications to ensure the best user
experience on Apple devices.
Availability
iAd Workbench is available to promote products in iOS apps and on iTunes
Radio in iAd-supported countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle
East, Africa, and Australia.

iAd App Network
With iAd Workbench, you can run banner, full-page, and MREC ads on the
iAd App Network. The ad can drive users to an App Store or iTunes Store
destination, website destination, video asset, or (for banner ads only)
expanded rich media experience created with iAd Producer. If you’re
promoting an iOS app, you can create a banner using built-in templates
in iAd Workbench, eliminating the need to upload assets..

Creative Guidelines for Banners, Full Page, and MREC ads
•
Static JPEG, PNG, and GIF, and animated GIF files are accepted. Animations can
only loop three times, and can’t exceed 15 seconds.
•
Banner, full-page, and MREC creative must adhere to iAd’s Content Guidelines.
Don’t use explicit language or content. Be mindful of case sensitivity when
featuring an Apple product by name (i.e. iPad, iPhone, iPod touch).
•
Use only App Store and iTunes badges provided by Apple. Don’t reference your
app’s rating or ranking in an ad.
•
Only iOS devices may be shown in an ad. Don’t obscure, crop, distort, or cut off
parts of Apple products.
•
Banner ads must include a destination. An iTunes destination requires an iTunes
Link. A web site destinations require a URL (mobile optimized site
recommended). A video destination requires that you upload a video file
following the Video Asset specifications outlined.
Consider the iAd frame dimensions when designing your banner, to ensure an optimal
visual experience. Reference the chart for dimensions by device.

With video transcoding built into iAd Workbench, you need to upload only a
single video file instead of separate files for each device and resolution. Your
file is automatically converted to the different sizes needed for the devices

iTunes Radio
Audio ads are available to run on iTunes Radio. To create an audio ad, you
need to upload a slate image and audio file. The slate is an image-based
banner that will be displayed for the duration of the audio. If desired, the
slate, on tap or click, can drive the user to an App Store or iTunes Store or
website destination.
