What: The 2015 STEM & Career Exploration Expo is going to be a great day of career exploration for ALL Minneapolis Public Schools 6th grade students. Students will explore a variety of career options that require a strong academic foundation in science, math, technology, engineering, design thinking, and problem-solving skills. Hands-on, interactive exhibits sponsored by MPS community partners will be designed to increase student interest in career opportunities related to Minnesota’s career fields that keep our economy strong: Business, Management & Administration, Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources, Arts, Communications, & Information Systems, Engineering, Manufacturing & Technology, Health Sciences, and Human Services. Tools of the Trade exhibits … your organization’s unique exhibit will highlight the awesome equipment you design, use, or manufacture every day to perform the various tasks associated with their career. The day will be filled with displays, conversation, and demonstrations designed to engage students in dynamic conversations about the many career options available to them. 2. Career Pathways & Community exhibits … the Twin Cities is the “high tech” capital of the Midwest and with that comes amazing local after-school and community STEM activities. The Career Pathway & Community exhibits will highlight the many co-curricular opportunities available to Minneapolis Public School students, including post-secondary college and career readiness options.
