Title: Domain: Grade: Organizational Unit: Primary Location: Type of contract: Duration of contract : Associate Project officer Curriculum design and development P1 Innovation and Leadership in Curriculum and Learning Geneva Project appointment 12 months* Annual salary: Single rate: approx. 72,719 USD Dependent rate: approx. 77,091 USD Deadline (midnight, Paris time): 16 November 2014 Application to be sent to: IBE Geneva * Extension of the appointment is subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST The incumbent will work under the overall authority of the Director of the IBE and the direct supervision of the programme manager in charge of the Curriculum Support Services to Member States (SSMS). He/she will: Contribute to the management (technical and administrative issues), implementation, follow-up and assessment of technical assistance to Member States principally related to issues of citizenship education, inclusive education and diploma courses on curriculum; Assist in the production and editing of IBE Curriculum Resource Packs (CRP), guidelines, prototypes and thematic modules on critical and current issues in curriculum (focusing on citizenship education and inclusive education); Assist in gathering, processing and reporting on data related to capacity-development and technical assistance activities; and Assist in any other activity relating to IBE focus area “Innovation and Leadership in Curriculum and Learning” and contribute effectively to the broader scope of the work of the IBE. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Advanced University Degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in Curriculum or Learning or Pedagogy WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in the field of curriculum design and development across different levels of the educational system. One year acquired in supporting Member States on curriculum-related issues would be an asset; Accredited experience in the analysis of and reporting on data with regard to the follow-up and assessment of programmes and projects. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: A self-starter and good team player with strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity; Strong and demonstrated ability to write and edit compelling, clear, and accurate content for diverse audiences, for general publication; Excellent planning and time management skills; Ability to identify and solve problems, work under pressure and contribute to organize and complete complex projects and meet tight deadlines; Very Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Prezi, Pubisher, etc.); Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and Understanding of the relevant business processes, operating strategies, policies and procedures within the UN environment. LANGUAGES: Fluency in English and good knowledge of French . Knowledge of Spanish or Arabic will be an asset. UNESCO DOES NOT CHARGE A FEE AT ANY STAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS. They consist of a basic salary and a post adjustment which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station and exchange rates.
