President Adel Tamano had
proven it would not be necessary
to rely on monetary terms in
improving the university’s current
state. In one of his interviews, he
reiterated that he just utilized what
we already have, emphasizing on
resourcefulness as a tool in
carrying out the administrations’
array of projects and proposals that
would assist in providing students
affordable yet quality education.
The addition of computer units in
Celso Al Carunungan Memorial
Library and the conversion of PLM
buses to shuttle services are just
two of the beneficial projects the
administration is currently carrying
out. These projects do not require
much funding because these assets
are already innate in the university;
it is a matter of redesignating its
uses where it could serve students
and university personnel more.
The moral bestowed by the
actions of the administration should
serve as an example among us in
solving the problems the college is
presently facing. As the largest
college in the university, CET needs
better facilities to accommodate the
needs of the students, especially for
the technical and research aspect,
wherein the college is known to
excel at. Unfortunately, the recent
condition of the basic amenities
here in CET is appalling, especially
for Lab 1, which houses dilapidated
and non-functional engineering
equipment. Another dilemma is the
deficiency in the collection of
engineering books, research
materials and reference making it
inconvenient for students to find the
right materials for their researches
and projects. To handle the
predicament, the students’ solution
was to visit other university
laboratories and libraries, but
usually, other schools often require
fees for visiting students in using
such facilities, and it adds to the
burden especially for students in
acquiring such services in which
our university should give in the
first place.
This institution maybe a city
funded university hence funding
may be scarce, but should it be a
reason to remain numb in this
situation? The college is known for
winning several contests and
topping licensure examinations,
however these achievements
should not be an excuse to let
things pass but it should serve as
an inspiration, especially to the
leaders of the college in providing
the utmost service the students can
get. This paper believes that the
college has the resources, and
through the administration’s
initiative and resourcefulness, and
of course, financial support to
materialize the project, we really
can improve our facilities. Changes
maybe gradual, but it is better than
to be stagnant at all. However, it
would be best if we will stop
whining and help the college for its
transformation. We, students can
contribute through our small deedsby being responsible and taking
care of our current facilities, and
basically, to study hard in attaining
the college’s thrust in excellence.
And most of all, we all should apply
the lesson taught by the University
President – that is to make use of
what we have in solving the
problems we are facing, not only in
school, but even to our everyday
lives as students and soon-to-be
professionals of this society.

The purpose in establishing college papers for the different colleges
in the University was questioned by Lontayao’s “On Solid Ground” column
from AP’s March 2007 issue. The editor-in-chief of AP has described college papers as ‘sunshine publications’, created to write only constructive
criticisms and praises to the college it represents. Lontayao even emphasized college papers will do the PR while AP will do the journalism, pertaining to the great difference between writing styles of AP and college papers,
being the latter was described as “writers for development”. I would admit
that at first I agree to what the article have implied, since the establishment
of college publication have taken place when AP starts to be critical at certain policies in the university and their six technical advisers filtering the
articles were crapped out of the publication. In deeper sense, the hostility of
the administration started when AP finally practiced autonomy again, which
should be the case, since it was originally created as an independent student
body. As a student, conscious about the schemes and politics in the university, I consider the trueness in the said article until such irony happened –
someone urged me to take Technik’s qualifying examination, and as they
say, the rest is history.
I often recall my early ‘AP days’ where the publication was on the
rocks and on verge of closing down, because we published a magazine featuring a lifestyle check of the five highest official in the university. It had
resulted to suspensions and dismissals, and for the record, the past administration have closed down the publication twice. I was a freshman back then
so instead of retaliating and joining the ‘well publicized fight’, I backed out.
After a month or two, some “high-ranked” officials of the university offered
me to be a part of the new publication that will replace AP, basically to
appear the publication to be genuine but I always decline, as my morals told
me I should reject the offer. Nonetheless, it never dawn to me that I will be
given a second chance not to another university publication but to a college
paper, which was allegedly created as the adversary of AP.
Technik, together with other college papers, may be instituted for wrong
reasons, but still these are student organizations. It may include contributions from faculty and other officials from the administration, but still, the
genuine purpose in establishing such is to guarantee that the students’ right
to be informed and the right to be heard, the two most indispensable pillar of
a democratic society, be carried out, in this University. It never intends to be
a venue of PR or sugar coating for the college. We acknowledge the fact that
one of the intentions in launching college papers is to promote the positive
sides of the college. As journalists, it is our duty to give credit when credit is
due. But it would never mean Technik will only focus on good things; we
never ought to be writers of a sunshine publication- we are student journalists; we will write reality. We may never deny the fact that the main purpose
of the paper is to be spokesperson of the college it represents, but above all,
Technik should be an effective tool in ensuring academic and press freedom
of the students. This should be the primary reason in the first place why
college publications exist, and not to compete or even to nullify the university publication.
Read Technik and see for yourself if it’s PR or journalism.

the good, the bad and the grey part of the crux, the cet students speak
It depends on the person. There are
some students who can still handle their
studies even if they sometimes need to have
a break and fool around.
--marisol molo, CE
Grade consciousness is normal in
every hardworking student. For me, there
is nothing wrong with it as having good
grades is the prize for all the hardships.
--katherine mae boado, CS
Being grade conscious isn’t a crime.
But seldom they could receive compliments
and admiration from others. There are
times wherein they were treated as deviant and strange individuals.
--vina marvas, CE
It is good because it helps us monitor our studies, especially in the most difficult fields.
--christine evangelista, EE
Ahm, nakakaparanoid yun, ok lang
mag-aim ng gud grades pero not to the
point na napapabayaan na ang sarili.
--rennuel mabanglo, EE
GC is a must-have for every college
student. It is because the college performance of a student is very vital in landing
on a good job. It should be a motivating
force in a student to perform better in their
studies, aiming a better grade for a better
future.
--donn kay tolentino, CS
It is normal para sa mga scholars na
tulad natin but nagkakaroon ng mga arguments because we have different views and
opinions about it. It has its pros and cons.
--jeffrey tembrevilla, ECE
You need to be grade conscious in
order for you to generate your goal. When
you are grade conscious, you have something to fight for, something to shoot.
--ian luigi lastra, CS
Panget maging GC. Ang GC kasi para
sa akin is a form of ‘over-acting,’ they tend
to go with the flow of their emotions if ever
they fail. It is not only the grade that counts
di ba?
--manuel jante, ECE
For me as a student, being grade
conscious is a trait that everyone should
have. We must be attentive of our performance in school. On the contrary, being
too conscious may cause so much stress
thus making it a bad habit.
--john robert rolle, CS
Depende eh, dapat kasi diba lahat in
moderation. Lahat ng sobra eh masama.
--madeleine magno, ECE
I think being conscious of one’s grade
is healthy because he is concern about his
future. He is thinking ahead of time and I
think that if someone is conscious about
his grades, he is the typr of person who
would strive hard to get high grades.
--dorothy grace moris, CS
Ok mag-aral pero hindi GC kasi yung
iba dito nawawalan ng social life.
--sarah lim, ECE
I think that it is okay as long as you
are not putting others down. I guess it is
really needed since we are here in PLM. If
we want to stay and survive, we must be
conscious of our studies.
--christal santos, CE
Grade consciousness is a positive attitude for me. It only implies that everyone
is not perfect and we only aim for improvement.
--ma. faustina flores, CS
I think that keeping track of our
grades is required because we need to know
what’s happening to what we are studying. Through grades we have a view of what
subjects need attention or improvement.
--maverick eleazar, CS
Ir’s wrong kasi hindi naman dapat
maging conscious sa grade pwede kasi
nitong maapektuhan
yung relationship natin sa mga classmates natin. You may miss some happy
moments with your friends if you will focus
so much on your grades. Mas lalong
mahirap kung dumating yung time that we
may compromise our friends in favor of our
studies.
--mariz bayan, ECE
GC is not that helpful to students. It
makes them feel uneasy that’s why many
of us can’t think well and can’t focus to our
studies. In some cases, students who are
strong enough to endure the pressure do
well. Their GC-ness becomes inspiration for
them to study hard and get high grades in
the end.
--aleli pinky orpiano, CS
Moderate lang, I mean you can be
aware or conscious when it comes to grades
pero kapag hindi mo nameet yung gusto
mong grades, accept na lang at hindi yung
may grudge pa especially when you know
for yourself that you really deserve to fail.
--rachelle tera, ECE
Grade consciousness for me is a way
of thinking. A mind set of wanting to attain
high grades. For me, this should be practiced but not too often. This is a good ticket
to passing your subjects. Well, you should
still bear in mind that grades are only numbers and should not be taken as a measure
of one’s intellect. On the other hand, it
doesn’t mean that we should neglect our
studies.
--jeremie aventurado, CS
For me as a student, GC is an important thing. It makes us realize how important our efforts, time etc. for less fortunate
students like us in public schools, it is very
important because it is our future which is
at stake here.
--erwin majaducon, CS
Grade consciousness gives a bad psychological effect to students because they
tend to pressure themselves to achieve a
certain grade. However, students that are
grade conscious are more disciplined than
other students.

For me GC is only natural for students
like us. It’s only an act of caring for our
own grades. It only becomes bad when it
came to a point that this forces us to bring
others down just to be on top.

Well, in some ways it is good, in some
it is bad. You may have good grades but it
makes you prone to step on others in order to get the commendation that you want.

Uwaaah! Uwaaaah!
Hoy Lila, anong iniiyak mo dyan?
Lilo, di ba bagong panganak tayo
sa TECHNIK, kaya naiyak ako.
Bakit? May butiki bang umiiyak?
E yung mga buwaya nga umiiyak,
kaya nga may ‘crocodile tears’ diba? Reptile din naman tayo ah!
Bakit, meron bang ‘lizard tears’?
Huwag ngang mag-emote dyan. Para kang
estudyanteng na-singko ah.
O sige na. Sa bagay, ayoko ngang
maging estudyante. Andaming chuvanes!
Oo nga. Yung mga estudyante nga
dito, dahil siguro sa sobrang hirap ng mga
exam, kung ano-ano na ang naiisip. Biro
mo, pati ba naman “kasarian” ng prof nila,
pinagdududahan. At take note:
nagpasurvey pa sila kung may “bahid” nga
ba talaga…
Tsktsktsktsktsk! May solid proof ba
sila?
Yun nga eh. Tsktsktsktsktsk! Wala
naman talaga. Siguro nakita lang nilang
kumekembot
ang
anino
nung
pinaghihinalaan nilang prof. Hanggang
ngayon, ayun, puro tamang hinala pa rin
sila.
Ano naman ba kasi ngayon kung
shomabels yung prof nila? Nung
nakatambay naman ako sa may ceiling
fan, pansin ko maayos namang magturo.
May mga nakaka-uno naman. Wala pa
naman ding nakasampang kaso ng sexual

Sana maging lamok na lang ang mga

Anong madami??? Eh apat lang

na-comprehend ko pa rin yung research
ng mga estudyante. At akala ko, hanggang
research lang talaga ang autocad sa PLM.
Tsktsktsktsktsk! Wag ka naman
masyadong nega?!
Nagsalita si Lilong Positibo…
Haaay…Porke ba napupuna ko na
hindi nagtuturo si ano, tapos madami pang
pinapagawang kung ano-ano, tapos
mababa pang mabigay ng grade, nega na
ako??? Tsktsktsktsktsk!
Ayun na, bumanat na nanaman...
Tsktsktsktsktsk!
Eh bakit nagsasabi lang naman ako
ng ano, ng totoo! Tsktsktsktsktsk!
Sige sabihin na nating totoo nga,
pero napaka-nega naman ng pananaw
mo. Gusto lang naman ni ano na masanay
ang mga bagets sa gabundok na trabaho
dahil ganyan din naman sa professional
world. Giga-utos din naman ang mga boss,
tapos minsan, nano-laki naman ang
sweldo. Nagmamalasakit lang si ano para
immune na mga estudyante for the future. Tsktsktsktsktsk!
Lila, andami mong alam ha! San mo
naman nasagap yan?
Nakakulong ka kasi dito sa 3rd floor

Nakakapagod kaya. Tsktsktsktsktsk!

ang nababasa nila.At saka magtira pa tayo
para sa susunod na isyu! Di ba? Di ba....
Hoy Lilo, tinulugan mo nanaman ba ako???

A physics professor gives a final
examination that requires his students to explain how to measure the
height of a tall building using a barometer. Instead of the expected answer (i.e., measure the barometric
pressure at the top and bottom of
the building, then use those readings
to calculate the altitude), one student provides several unique but
technically correct alternative solutions to the problem.
The following concerns a question
in a physics degree exam at the University of Copenhagen:
"Describe how to determine the
height of a skyscraper with a barometer."
One student replied:
"You tie a long piece of string to
the neck of the barometer, then
lower the barometer from the roof
of the skyscraper to the ground. The
length of the string plus the length
of the barometer will equal the height
of the building."
This highly original answer so incensed the examiner that the student has failed him immediately. The
student appealed on the grounds
that his answer was indisputably correct, and the university appointed an
independent arbiter to decide the
case.
The arbiter judged that the answer was indeed correct, but did not
display any noticeable knowledge of
physics. To resolve the problem it
was decided to call the student in
and allow him six minutes in which
to provide a verbal answer that
showed at least a minimal familiarity with the basic principles of physics.
For five minutes the student sat in silence, forehead creased in
thought. The arbiter

Why Female PLM Engineering Students
Should Have Pants as Their Lower Uniform
by Krystin Bajado
It is a cliché that one good reason is enough to pursue something if someone really wills it. How much more if there
are TEN?
In other universities…
Almost every engineering
school prescribes pants as the
lower uniform even for their female students. Adamson University, University of the East, and University of Sto. Thomas to name a few.
Engineering is a “man’s” job
Since engineering is a “man’s” job
(mostly dominated by men), the
women in this field should also be
dressed in a “man’s” clothes.
Always on the run.
Eye bags and pimples are evidences that engineering students are under stress. It’s not
that they only respond on the
last minute, it is because they don’t have
the luxury of time with all the academic
workloads on their back. Having pants as
uniform would help run them a little faster
from their classroom to the internet café
and to the faculty room.
time was running out, to which the student replied that he had several extremely
relevant answers, but couldn't make up his
mind which to use. On being advised to
hurry up the student replied as follows:
"Firstly, you could take the barometer up to the roof of the skyscraper, drop
it over the edge, and measure the time it
takes to reach the ground. The height of
the building can then be worked out from
the formula H = 0.5g x t squared. But bad
luck on the barometer."
"Or if the sun is shining you could
measure the height of the barometer, then
set it on end and measure the length of its
shadow. Then you measure the length of
the skyscraper's shadow, and thereafter it
is a simple matter of proportional arithmetic
to work out the height of the skyscraper."
"But if you wanted to be highly
scientific about it, you could tie a short
piece of string to the barometer and
swing it like a pendulum, first at ground
level and then on the roof of the skyscraper. The height is worked out by the
difference in the gravitational restoring
force T =2 pi sqr root (l /g)."
"Or if the skyscraper has an out-
Architecture and Nursing
If the ladies in those courses already have pants as their uniform,
surely engineering lasses can put on
pants too.
Pocket! Pocket!
The standard school uniform for
women is not designed with at least
a pocket. A great convenience it
would be if the mobile phone, wallet and a
pen is always at hand (not in the hand).
Liberty to Move
It is a common knowledge (and
complain!) among female students that is difficult to move
around (especially riding a jeepney
with high flooring, argh!) with the pencilcut skirt. It also restricts them in sitting casually, which is inevitable particularly for
an engineering student.
Civil Engineering on Surveying and other field related
works
About 60% of BS CE sophomores
are female. They find it difficult to maneuver with the skirt for they have to sit, walk
and stand like a man.
Why female PLM.. to page 16
side emergency staircase, it would be easier
to walk up it and mark off the height of the
skyscraper in barometer lengths, then add
them up."
"If you merely wanted to be boring and orthodox about it, of course, you
could use the barometer to measure the
air pressure on the roof of the skyscraper
and on the ground, and convert the difference in millibars into feet to give the height
of the building."
"But since we are constantly being exhorted to exercise independence of
mind and apply scientific methods, undoubtedly the best way would be to knock
on the janitor's door and say to him 'If you
would like a nice new barometer, I will give
you this one if you tell me the height of
this skyscraper'."
The student was Niels Bohr, the
only Dane to win the Nobel Prize for physics.
The obvious moral here is that
education should not consist merely of stuffing students' heads full of information and
formulas to be memorized by rote and regurgitated upon demand, but of teaching
The barometer...to page 17
A semester has passed but I’m sure
not all of our sophomores ascertained the
things they needed to realize. Some may
have found it out naturally, but majority
needed this kind of help to perfect the engineer-ship for sure. Well, as you entered this
world of haggardness and impeccability,
you guys weren’t informed of the danger in
stored for you. To avoid it, here are some
robbed entries in the secreted handbook for
survival in the college.
Thou shall be Friendly
Engineering is one heck of a rollercoaster ride. You wouldn’t be thrilled as
much if you don’t have company to scream
your lungs out with as you pass the loops.
Being friendly is the key to start this new
life with a bang. Be sociable…be approachable to your new classmates, be affable to
your new professors. Oh, you’ll need a lot
of helping hands in the years to come so
better build a strong bunch of individuals
whom you can run to during hard times.
Thou shall be Loved
This is so not pertaining to the
mushiest love team you could get your kick
in, so skip this if you clamor for more of
that love-o-rama sort of tips. Be loved for
your deeds, for your works, for your contributions in order to survive the knights’
challenges. You’re not asked to wear your
president-material mask, but to put passion
on everything you do so that people will
learn to look up to you.
Thou shall be Alive
When you were just freshies, (oh,
you guys grew so fast), you may
have noticed that engineering students are busiest among all the persons in the university. Because of it,
most of them compromise their health in
order to catch up with a missed lesson. It’s
ironic that they never realized that they will
be missing more lessons if they continued
doing this. Knights are alive and fighting,
you can’t belong here if your weak and dying.
Thou shall be Assertive
Assertiveness is being confident
and persuasive at the same time. You will
need a lot of this if you plan to be a student
with a twist. The ability to win any arguments, which sometimes has no sense, is
an obvious edge. This gives you a ticket to
breathtaking recitations, astonishing reportage, and sharp communication with your
professors. This also paves way for people
to follow you without hesitancy. Assertive
personality is one of the exponents of a successful college life.
Thou shall be Blessed
Balanced as we said, you (despite
our busy schedules) shall not compromise
your spirituality. Behind every triumphant
individual is a generous Provider. So if you
will be bargaining your source of everything, logically there will be nothing left
for you.
Thou shall be Creative/Ambitious
Based on experiences, outstanding outputs smoothen your way to obtain
the grade you most certainly want to get.
This is composed of stupendous exterior
and dazzling contents. Producing quality
projects, reports, assignments, case studies,
and other subject requirements assures your teacher that you love the
subject and that you are learning
from him/her.
Thou shall be Fearless
One teacher kept on talking inside my mind telling me that I
should be fearless…one day I understood what she tried to say. You are
not asked to be blatant towards your
professors, but to be transparent in
everything you want to utter with
deference. This is in order for you
to understand each other. It also covers your exertion of effort to reach
out to your professors. Feel close but
not too close. Crack jokes and share
life stories as she is pleased to hear.
In this manner you will be free to
talk about problems related to your
subjects and your class. You’ll never
know, maybe she will recognize
whatever favor you will ask from her.
Thou shall be Happy
In everything you do, you
should always think that you’re doing it because you want to do it, if
not, you may find it difficult to have
initiative to surpass the tests thus
leaving you with more ties to untangle later on. Being happy prevents
you from being stressed. Away from
stress you will be able to deal with
any hitches smoothly. It also lessens
your problems because when you are
happy you never consider anything
a problem but a challenge to bring
out the better you. Engineers faces
many obstructions as your year level
increments, but it will be as easy as
ever if you know how to
“exponentiate” happiness.
Thou shall be Yourself
No one, as far as reality is
concern, has ever graduated wearing
a mask, hiding all that the material
could cover. All that is included in
this handbook cannot be achieved or
followed if and only if you satisfy
this vital rule of being true to every
person you are having transactions
with. If you are angry, show it. If you
are sad, don’t hesitate to cry. By being yourself, you are giving others
the right to be true to you.

Thou shall be Intelligent
CET is a college of unsurpassed
excellence in the highbrow field. Having
been connected to such an elite appellation is already a priceless experience.
(Note: Some exaggerations were included
prior to this statement for mass appeal)
The bottom line is, if you don’t have the
brain or you plan not to get one since
you don’t have it yet, you better think
twice because you may be squandering years of your life in the college
then graduating in some late years in
a different institution just because
you were dismissed.

napagutusan ni ma’am magturo dahil
makikipagtsismisan pa siya sa prof sa

alam kong mali na yung tinuturo nila.
Siguro hindi yung sinasabi nila yung gusto

tama na yung matawag ka lang na

ng pag-aralan at isagawa ang mga turo
dito. Sa mga maliit na paraan (hindi na
kailangang banggitin pa sapagkat ilang
daang beses mo na rin isinulat iyan
sa mga sanaysay mo simula pa
elementarya) ay makakatulong ka na.
Ang tanong lang talaga ay kung
isinasagawa mo ang mga dapat gawin.
Hindi rin kailangang kabisaduhin ang 1986
Consititution at lahat ng amendments, re-
visions,
presidential
decrees, republic acts at
iba pa (electrical engineering tayo,
hindi law students). Simple
lang naman ang
paraan
para
malaman
malaking mundo? Halimbawa na lang sa
paaralan, sa mga orgranisasyong
kinabibilangan mo, may naitutulong ka ba?
Ginagampanan mo ba ang mga tuntunin
mo dito bilang isang lehitimong estudyante
ng PLM?
May kasabihan nga, kung ang
isang bagay ay gusto mong magawa ng
maayos, ikaw na mismo ang gumawa o
kahit papaano, isa ka sa mga gumawa.
Bihira naman ang mga taong puro mali
ang tingin sa mga ginagawa niya.
Kadalasan, ang pagkakamali ng iba ang
ating nakikita. Huwag mo na ring
antayin na mauna silang kumilos,
malamang sa malamang hinihintay
lang din nila na may maunang iba.
Kung ganon ng ganon, walang
patutunguhan ang sistema.
Kung aktibo ka kasing
nakikibahagi, makikita mo talaga
kung may pinatutunguhan o wala ang
organisasyong kinabibilangan mo. Higit pa
roon, lubos mong magagamit ang mga
pribilehiyong ibinibigay ng institusyon.
Ang sistema, maliit man kagaya
ng isang club o kasing lawak ng isang
bansa tulad ng Pilipinas, ay gagana lamang
ng maayos kung magtutulungan ang mga
namumuno at miyembro nito. Wala na rin
kasing magagawa ang isang magaling na
pinuno kung kahit isa sa mga miyembro
nito ay walang malasakit para sa
organisasyon.
Panahon na para wakasan ang
mga pagkakamaling napupuna mo sa
institusyon an kinabibilangan mo, maging
aktibo ka na sa pakikibahagi upang maging
mas produktibo ito.
“Who? Who’s gonna fight us, who?”
My sullen throat started to get weary and
my cheer wasn’t that encouraging as before. It was
later turning into a squeal. I wanted to drink. No, I terribly needed to. I could feel my fagged lungs burning as if I
sprinted a million dashes. While in fact I was just standing
along a scanty corridor together with my co-“yellers”.
Time has passed and still we were occupying
that skimpy space. The student instructor in front was
still energetic, as well as the drummer beside her, while
everyone behind looked awful and desperate. I hear
a student behind me furtively uttered, “Is this some
kind of a sick joke?! They kept on telling us to recite
that same line over and over again and expect us to
deliver it audibly?! I can barely hear my
voice!”. I just kept silent. I didn’t mutter anything for the fear of
getting heard. I just went
with the flow. I yelled
whenever they instruct
us to, even if it sounds
more likely a squeal. Who
cares anyway? I couldn’t
even perceive my larynx! But
someone did. She ordered us to
stop. And then what’s next? I
couldn’t remember how many times
we scream. What I couldn’t forget was
how sore my throat was afterwards.
The moment we’ve been waiting for
is here. The annual intramurals of the University. After the presentations, I decided to just call it a day and go
home. Suddenly, a commotion caught my attention. Armed with
a spear and a gear, CET Knights Pep squad, represented by mighty
CoE students appears and amuses the crowd. My next action? I
joined my co-“yellers”, roared with full spirit and vivacity, “Go
Engineers! Go Engineers!”
Knights surely imprinted a very impressive performance
to the masses. We were declared as the champion! Viva Engineering! Viva CET Knights!
And guess what? Squealing wasn’t that bad at all.
Civil Engineers (PICE) distributed fliers that
tell about Civil Engineering and its major
fields (Structural Engineering, Geotechnical
Engineering, Transportation Engineering,
Construction Management and Engineering, Water Resources and Hydraulics Engineering).
PSME or the Philippine Society of
Mechanical Engineering tied up with the
SME and presented movie clips, demonstrated the ME Go Cart, and exhibited engine model.
The 2-day activity was successful
having each society promoted and advertised their respective field, which gave the
anticipation for the Chairpersons to accommodate new comers in the college.
Climbing up to GV 4th Floor
What else is located at GV 4th
floor but the Engineering Drawing Room (DR). All students
whose course have “engineering”
on its title had marked their shoeprints
there. Nowadays, sophomores are enjoying the placid atmosphere (away from the
hustling and bustling of the 3rd floor corridor), though the females have difficulties
on sitting on the stool then occasionally to
perfectly draw a “star”.
Experiments in Physics and
Other Laboratory Subjects
P.E. is not the only subject with
“floor exercise”. Physics requires
some activities like this, too. Determining the average velocity of a certain
block of wood is not a big deal given that
the ladies are wearing pants.
They Simply Want It
So far, TECHNIK hadn’t interviewed
a lady knight who opposes the idea
of having pants as the uniform.
This reason tops everything because it is the very grounds of this article.
Skirt is nice but pants are better.
With the justifications stated above, it may
just be timely to take the matter seriously.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When solving for a value ends to nil,
When the scores are low, and the toils are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When profs are pressing you down a bitRest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out,
You should study harder, don’t just pout,
And you can never tell how close you are,
A passing remark may not be far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hitIt’s when things go wrong that you mustn’t quit.

mangled words of a familiar phrase, students should be educated in a way that enables them to figure out their own ways of
catching fish, not simply taught a specific
method of fishing.
True or not, this anecdote incorporates a feature common to academic legends, the notion that an instructor must
give credit to a student who provides a technically correct answer to an exam question, even when the it is clearly not the
answer the instructor expected, although
in this case the instructor rejects the initial
answer(s) and demands one that at least
demonstrates a knowledge of the subject
matter at hand.

the Jaguars marked the largest lead of the game at the end of the third at 30,

advantage.

the outcome of the game. The Knights were coached by Engr. August T.

In the first game, last year’s runner-up COPERS Gators showed their
prowess against the visiting Avancena based College of Human Development

Meanwhile, the CET Basketball squad snatched two straight wins at
the expense of College of Physical Therapy (CPT) and College of Science (CS)
respectively.

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila through the Student Intramurals Council
formally paved way the opening of the 2007 University Intramurals with 14 Colleges
participating last August 23 at the Tanghalang Bayan.
The annual sports activity not only highlighted the traditional torch lighting by
last year’s Most Valuable Player, Richard Peronilla of COPERS as the symbol of the spirit
of sportsmanship and enthusiasm that keeps on burning but also featured two important
speeches from the newly appointed high-rank officials of the university.
Atty.Ernesto Maceda Jr., the new Executive Vice President of the university gave
students his welcome remarks stating the importance of having sports fest like Intramurals
in molding and healing the mind, body and spirit.
Meanwhile, Atty. Adel A. Tamano, our new university president had his first
speaking engagement in front of the students and faculty emphasizing the essence of
Intramurals in accordance to the four F’s. (See related article).
On the other hand, Kier Galmier De Leon of COPERS lead
