Winners will receive cash awards and be eligible for entrance into the national competition held during Internal Medicine 2015. Residents/ Fellows should contact Marci L. Drees, MD, FACP, at [email protected], and students should contact Cheryl A. Jackson, MD, FACP, at [email protected] for information about entering the competitions. The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2014. We are pleased to announce that our Chapter is the recipient of a 2013 Chapter Excellence Award. The Chapter Excellence Award recognizes those chapters that excel in reaching the standards for managing a chapter, such as communicating to members, instituting Medical Students’ and Resident/Fellow Members’ activities, and advancing and recruiting members. A Chapter Excellence certificate will be awarded at the meeting. Resident/Fellow and Medical Students are also invited to attend a special luncheon between the morning and afternoon sessions. Laureate Award It is with distinct pleasure that the Delaware Chapter presents a 2015 Chapter Laureate Award. Laureate Award winners are long-standing and loyal supporters of the College who have rendered distinguished service to their chapters and community and have upheld the high ideals and professional standards for which the College is known. The Chapter is also pleased to present the Leonard Lang Award to an outstanding internist from our communities. Additionally, the Chapter will announce the recipients of the Parag Bakshi Fellowship Grant for international medicine rotation for residents. The awards will be presented during lunch. Who Should Attend • General internists • Subspecialty internists • Family practitioners • Hospitalists • Fellows in subspecialty training • Allied health practitioners • Residents (internists in training) Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to: • Apply updated knowledge of the intestinal microbiota, syncope, and diffuse parenchymal lung disease to clinical practice. • Improve clinical practice by incorporating major new developments in treatment of hepatitis C and lipid management. • Evaluate the risks and benefits of use of medical marijuana based on current evidence. • Define High Value Care and understand how to balance benefits with harms and costs when caring for patients.
