Dinner served 6:30 pm Grand Lodge Ballroom Family and friends are welcome Regular Communications 2015 From the East Brethren, At our first meeting this month, on November 6, in honor of Veterans Day, we will welcome Mr. David Ginsburg as a guest speaker. He is the National Senior Vice Commander of the 29th Division Association and Post Commander of Larkspur Post No. 110, a unit of the 29th based in Pikesville. The 29th Division - a division with a long Maryland heritage - was among the first wave of American troops landing on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. Mr. Ginsburg will speak on the 29th's role at D-Day and in the subsequent campaign to defeat Hitler's Germany, a role of which all Marylanders can be proud. We will also be visited on November 6 by our Grand Inspector, WB David Rabe, who will take up the Grand Masonic Word for the final time this year. On November 20, our most recent class of Master Masons will stand examination in the catechism of that degree. And we will be greatly honored that evening by a visit from members of Mt. Lebanon Lodge No. 22 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Maryland. It will be a night of good fellowship and new friendships. Be sure to be there. Sincerely and fraternally, Rex S. Gordon P.M. Worshipful Master A Note About Keys If any one has a key to our display cases please let Paul or Bob know as we seem to have lost ours. Weinstein Irvin M. Willen Robert M. Williar Gerald A. Yamin Martin Zuckerman Masonic Creed I as a Free Mason believe in the Fatherhood of GOD and the Brotherhood of man. I will do unto others as I would have them do unto me. I pledge my loyalty to the government of the United States of America, a government of the people, by the people, and for the people and will not countenance disloyalty on the part of others. Free Masonry is founded upon these principles and I will use my utmost effort to preserve them for posterity. So Mote it be. My View From The West Apathy No matter how large and strong and mighty a tree may be, if it gets root rot it surely will eventually wither and die. Apathy in a fraternity such as ours is the same thing as root rot is to a tree. My Brothers, I am very troubled by the lack of support which caused us to have to cancel both our Dinner Dance in September and our trip to the GW Masonic Memorial and Old Town Alexandria, VA in October. There are approximately five hundred members of our Lodge, yet we got only slightly more than 20 people for both of these special events. This lack of support gives me concern when thinking about planning events for next year. For years we have heard from the Brethren that you want us to plan more social events. More events that you can bring your wives, friends and families to; yet when presented with two of these events, we got responses from so very few of you. We intentionally scheduled these events after the kids had gone back to school to avoid vacation conflicts. Neither event was exceptionally expensive and they were both something different to do. So why the indifference? My intention here is not to scold but to find out what went wrong so we can improve and move forward and offer events in the future that you will enjoy and want to attend. Please, when you see me at a meeting, pull me aside and give me your input and suggestions. Additionally, we will be holding a planning meeting for next year on Sunday, December 7th at the Ionic Lodge building in Reisterstown immediately following our annual Past Master’s meeting. Please attend that meeting so we can give you the events that you want. Like we always say: “You only get out of Masonry what you put into it.” My Brothers, we have a very active and thriving line of Officers. For the first time since anyone can remember, not one chair is officially filled by a Past Master. We are set to have a new Worshipful Master every year for at least the next 7 years. But this line, no matter how vibrant and this Lodge cannot exist without your support. Let’s not allow the root rot of apathy to bring down the beautiful tree which is Amicable-St. John’s Lodge. Join us and support us my Brothers, in doing so you are really supporting yourselves. Sincerely and Fraternally, Bob Rascovar Senior Warden Officers for 2014 W. Bro. Rex Gordon P.M. Lebanon Lodge No. 22 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Maryland. Refreshments served after Meeting Regarding Dues By now you should have received your dues bill for 2015. As of this mailing over 60 men have not paid their 2014 dues and are facing suspension. This is a troubling number as it is over 10% of our membership. Please understand, dues are due in advance of the year and if not paid by the end of the year Grand Lodge Constitution requires that you be suspended. A suspension will prevent you from receiving a service award on time and could prevent you from being eligible to receive care in Bonnie Blink, our outstanding facility, should you require it. Dues are our sole source of revenue. Most of you pay your dues promptly and I thank you for that.I try to process dues sent in as quickly as possible and ask your patience if it takes a little time as it is a big job. As always if you feel that your dues bill is incorrect in any way, call me. Paul Adler PM Secretary Amicable ~ St. John’s Lodge No. 25Masonic Anniversaries For November Irwin B. Farber Ira M.
