Parking tickets We decided upon a uniform design of the symbols, a black Media for printing parking tickets both for car parks and fines. image on a white background framed in black and we have added a few new ones. Application Boarding pass Media for boarding passes. Indoor Travel Ticket Media for producing public transport travel tickets and permits. Outdoor Please find below the new pictograms: Label Facestock Media with functional surface goes through a special process to add an additional adhesive coating to make labels. Maps and engineering drawings Product properties Our products possess valuable market required characteristics: To enable you to search easily for products with reference to these requirements we have added the following product property symbols: Security feature Media with additional features, i.e. a coloured security stripe, a watermark or holograms which can be seen with or without UV lights – all of which reduce the risk of counterfeiting. Top quality output for CAD projects and engineering drawings, as well as map printing. Envelope production Absorbent The special surface can quickly absorb liquids. This media is essential for the production of high quality tear resistant document sleeves and envelopes. Durable Labels The hardwearing character of this product makes it stand out. Weather-proof media for labels and tags. Data recording Easy to fold This product possesses exceptional folding qualities, without affecting its high breaking point (which means it can be folded again and again) and can be used in automatic folding presses/ machines. Wax, thermo, and electro sensitive coated papers for analogue and digital data recording in tachograph and cash register equipment. 8 Dimensionally stable Ink vs. printing technology Thanks to its base material and construction, this product has remarkable dimensional stability under atmospheric changes (temperature and humidity) - altering neither in length or width. After the continuous introduction of new products from our side and the continuous developments within the printing industry it has become essential that limitations on ink com- Opaque patibility are reduced. Now we can clearly show you to which printing technology a product is suited. This product has a high opacity, enabling coverage of all backgrounds. Here you can see see the pictogram we had to show ink compatibility – the ink well and next to it Translucent An opaque product allowing the background to shine through. the new format: Now the entire product assortment has been organised by the following printing technologies: Water impermeable Laser printer with dry toner This product has a barrier that stops water passing through. Edge tear strength This product has a particularly high tear resistance: it will only tear and continue to rip should one of the edges become damaged or excessive force is used. Outdoor resistant This product is weatherproof and can withstand long-term outdoor application. Conventional printing The surface of this media is not only compatible with named digital printers but is also printable with standard Offset, Flexo, and Letterpress enabling unchanging multiply printing before application. RFID protection This product has a barrier preventing electromagnetic rays: preventing the unauthorised capture of data from bank cards, credit cards, etc... (Data chips which can be read by RFID readers). Indelible The properties of this media make forgery almost impossible: attempts to erase will leave visible marks that can be seen by the naked eye. Within certain limits it is also non-fading and age resistant. 9 Laser printers or multifunctional printers (copiers) – use dry toners and the electrographic principle to print. Powdered ink particles are transferred to the surface of the media via an electrostatic charge: using heat (120-200°C) and direct contact the ink is fused to the paper. Laser printer with liquid toner Quite opposite to standard laser printers, these systems use an oil-based liquid toner: making a slightly absorbent surface necessary to extract the pigment from the toner and anchoring it to the media - a scratch proof print is then produced. Offset Printing Planographic (flat) printing exists as both sheetfed and roll to roll printing; it is a flat surface as opposed to raised or incised surface printing. Hereby solvent/ oil based inks, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black - each with their own printing plate - after being exposed to light the plates transfer the print to the media. Flexo Printing Flexographic is a rotary raised letterpress, using flexible relief plates on direct presses, the rubber plates and aniline inks (rapidly evaporating solvents- quick drying) are fed through the drier. Gravure Printing Gravure prints by making small indentations on the surface of the roller and with significantly higher ink densities than planographic printing and enables a wider colour gamut. This method of printing is commonly used for high quality catalogues and brochures. Screen Printing Compared to all other traditional and digital printing techniques, screen printing allows the highest ink saturation thus achieving very high densities: leaving print colours with higher percentages of pigment and less solvent. This is then drawn across a screen of fine mesh using a squeegee, forcing the ink through the open image areas onto the media. For each colour a mesh is prepared by an exposure and a rinsing cycle. For the exposure of the mesh either traditional or inkjet (Spirit Film 130 glossy 3642) repro film can be used. Inkjet with Dye and black pigment CAD print systems and many cheaper desktop printers use 4 colours to print Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, but only black carbon pigmented inks for plain papers: this makes coated media with specific properties necessary i.e. wipeable prints and printability. Inkjet with IR / Latex Ink Infrared curing ink, e.g. Latex ink as used in the HP DJ L- or Scitex LX series, which adheres of most flat and clean surfaces. Process needs heat resistant media, which does not shrink or ripple during the print cycle. Thermal direct printing Direct thermal printing functions with the use of a so-called thermal head which covers the entire width of the printer: the thermal head contains individually moving heating elements which have a square shaped surface, they move over the special thermo chromic paper (thermal paper). This activates the areas of the coating to melt which changes the colour of paper. In most cases this media is only avaiable in black. Inkjet with Solvent Ink Solvent or mild solvent based pigmented ink, which are used in printer systems like from Epson, Mutoh, Mimaki, Roland etc. Inkjet with Dye Sublimation ink Printable with special dye sublimation inks (pigments suspended in a liquid) which are transferred to polyester fabric in a heat press operating at temperatures around 200°C. At high temperatures and pressure, the dye turns to gas and solidifies to the fabric - making it permanent. Thermal transfer printing Similar to direct thermal printing technique, thermal transfer printing also uses a fixed width thermal print head. However it has a transfer ribbon (foil)- a wax-coated film - that runs between the print head and the media to be printed, the heat disperced by the thermal head melts the wax on the ribbon leaving a warm waxy print on the media. The Thermal transfer print is available in monochrome as well as colour variety on the market. Colours are printed by the back and forth motion of four ribbons simultaneously. Thermal Sublimation Print D2T2 Inkjet with UV Curable Ink Under UV-lights the polymerisation of the monomeric fluid is cured, this method requires roughened surfaces to allow ink fixation. Inkjet with Dye Aqueous dye based ink systems, whereby the colorant behaves like sugar in water. These inks deliver high colour saturation but are very sensitive to the atmospheric changes and UV-lights in comparison to Aqueous pigmented inks: therefore we strongly recommend glass framing or lamination for long-term indoor application. Indoor ink. These inks are found mostly in desktop printer, CAD/ GIS large format printers and in systems with Memjet printing heads. Thermo sublimation is a modified thermo transfer printing technique. The main difference being the dye on the colour ribbons - dye sublimation uses CMYO (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Overcoat). These sublimation dyes are immediately embedded to the media being printed. Dot matrix printer Dot Matrix printing is a contact (impact) process, needles run back and forth making contact with the ink-soaked cloth ribbon which impacts the surface of the media leaving a print. Inkjet with pigment Aqueous based pigmented ink systems, used on Thermal-, Bubble- and Piezo-Jet printers. The ink colorant (pigment) behaves like chalk in water it doesn't dissolve (outdoor ink). The high resistance to the atmospheric changes and UVlights of pigment enables outdoor application. Letterpress Letterpress is a printing method in which a print plate (platen) with raised letters or image is used. 10 111 years Sihl Düren The German plant celebrates.
