JOYAIRES
(Just
a Older Youth)
Joyaires will be meeting on Tuesday, November 11 and Tuesday, November 25 at 9 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall.
We will be eating our Thanksgiving dinner earlier this month (November 11) because our second meeting is so
close to Thanksgiving. Pam Curtis will be “the chef” for this feast, but she asked if the ladies will bring a
dessert? We invite you to join us if you are 55 or older as we enjoy this special time together.
Remember, we are available if you need a Grief Basket. We feel this is an important ministry and we are happy
to be a part of it.
Happy Thanksgiving from each of us! “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for
you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV).

Isn’t it amazing how Christmas is symbolized by so
many images. Images from that First Christmas,
and images that have become meaningful through
the ages: A Nativity…Colorful Lights…A Star…
A Candle…Shepherds…Angels… Each one
captures of piece of the message we celebrate
during the Christmas season. Each one paints a
picture, emits a meaning, and produces an emotion.
This series will look at the different images of
Christmas and the incredible part they play in
announcing again, “Immanuel has come!” And
that has changed EVERYTHING!

Grief
Seminar
Blessed are those who mourn... Life can be a series of gains & losses. Most of us do pretty well
handling new things in our life, but losses can be traumatic. On Sunday, November 9, from 12:30 3:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall at Shartel Church of God, Wanda Chiles will be leading a workshop on
the grieving process and the journey God has given us through the pain of letting go. We will look at
what kind of losses prompt this process, what the typical stages of grieving are & why, how to tell
when you are stuck and need extra help, and how to be there for a friend. Lunch and childcare will be
provided for all those attending. Please sign up by Wednesday, November 5 by contacting the church
office at 691-1216. We would love to have you there!
Newcomer’s Luncheon
November 16, 2014
We want to invite you to our Newcomer’s Luncheon after the second service on November 16 in the
Fellowship Hall. This is a chance for you to meet our staff and get a little better acquainted with who
we are as a church. We do not have a formal membership as a church, so you will not be asked to sign
anything or commit to anything. This is just a chance for you to ask questions and a chance for us to
share our hearts. We provide the lunch and child care. Contact the church office at 691-1216. Hope to
see you there!
