From Los Angeles/405 Freeway: Take 405
South to the 605 North Exit. Go north on the
605 until you come to the Willow Street Exit.
Turn west on Willow St. Turn right (north) on
Studebaker. Turn right into the El Dorado
Park Main entrance. The El Dorado West
Community Center is in El Dorado Park and
located on the left hand side of the driveway
in to the park. Turn left at the driveway, drive
past the building and park in the large parking
lot just past the building.

This session will inform the participant about the state’s
professional organization, CPRS, its composition, and
how RT fits in. Information will be presented about how a
professional in the state can enhance their professional
experience by being appointed or elected to the Section
Board. Updated information about the movement for
licensure in California and your role to help obtain the
goal will be discussed.
Using Horticulture as an RT Intervention
Chuck Killingsworth, CTRS
This session will introduce the use of horticulture and
gardening as an RT intervention. Participants will learn
about the Master Gardener Program and how to apply
this modality with “hands-on” techniques and outcomes.

2014 NCTRC Professional Issues Update

This session will focus on the recently conducted NCTRC
Job Analysis (JA) Study and NCTRC CTRS Profile
Study. The JA Study results are utilized in the design of
the NCTRC Certification Exam as well as it informs
CTRSs about areas of acceptable continuing education.
In addition, an update regarding the RT state licensure
movement will be presented to include a discussion of
the implications for state and national certification.

There have been significant changes in the healthcare
delivery system. The need for accountability, affordability
and quality of care is much greater. As new practice
titles emerge, it is important that we market the
RTC/CTRS as the only qualified provider of therapeutic
recreation/recreational therapy services. This session
will explore some of the healthcare system changes that
will have an impact on service delivery and will stress the
importance of evidenced based recreation therapy
services.
