“I am unusually Halloween-attentive because, as it happens, I was born
on Halloween, so for me it has always been an occasion of great
moment.”
~ Susan Orlean

Packages for TroopsIn honor of Veterans Day
Each month the residents
pack two military flat rate
postal boxes for troops who
are serving in Iraq and
Afghanistan. We have
partnered with Si Tenenberg
and his non-profit
organization
troopcarepacks.org. If you
ever have an opportunity to
visit or volunteer with Si please do, you will be
amazed at his operation and how personalized
he makes each box.
AGCC has committed to providing two boxes a
month with the staples that Si sends in every
single box, along with paying the postage for
these two boxes. We would love to be able to
send more each month. If you feel able to
donate to this cause here is a list of items we
include in each box. Many of these items are
available at the dollar store.
 Baby wipes
 Wet wipes (hand sanitization wipes)
 Beef jerky
 Sunflower seeds
 Single serving powder drink mixes
 Razors

Rosie
Davis
Rosie was born in Arkansas and moved
to California with her family when she was
just 3 years old. California is all she
remembers. She was married to her
husband Bill for many years and together
they had 2 children. If you ever want to
see her smile just ask her about her 2
great-granddaughters. Here are a few fun
facts about Rosie:
 I was named after both my
Grandmothers- Rosie and Lou
 I love arts and crafts; have always
been an avid craft person.
 If I could go anywhere in the world
I’d go to Hawaii. I went once and it
was just so much fun, we really
weren’t there long enough.
 My hidden talent is singing.
 The first thing I notice about other
people is if they are grumpy or not.
It doesn’t take much too just smile!
 I couldn’t go one day without
connecting with my friends.
 My favorite food is Mexican/Spanish
food. My favorite drink is Good
Earth Tea
 I love Orchids and Roses.
 Christmas is my favorite holiday.
Gener
Bunggay,
LVN
We have had the pleasure of Gener
being an AGCC employee for 7 years.
He started with the company 8 years ago
at one of our sister facilities. He started
as a CNA and this last year graduated
from the LVN program at Cuesta. He
came to Compass because “the timing
was right.” Here are some fun facts about
Gener you may not know:
 He was born in Manila, Philippines.
He moved to the US when he was
16 years old with is brother.
 Gener means January is Catalan
 His favorite part about his job is
watching the residents transition
from being at their worst/sickest to
being healthy and ready to go
home.
 When not working he enjoys driving
around and exploring the back
roads trying to find something new.
 Someday he’d like to travel to
Alaska to see the Northern Lights.
 His hidden talent is that he’s a
good baker. Ask him about his
pecan pie!
-Donations of giftable items for our
Annual Bazaar on December 12th
-Glass Beads
-Items for the residents to buy at Bingo
Auction (especially men items!)
-12x12 white paper
-Old (or new) I-pods or other individual
music playing device

71 men, woman, and children at
Prado Day Center.
The residents have packed, wrote
letters to, and sent 44 boxes to troops
serving overseas.
In September our residents gave out
food to 108 needy families and seniors
at our food bank.
In October our residents helped 46
families receive clothing and school

with The Children’s Resource Network
