Gulf Insurance organizes Diabetes
and Blood Pressure testing drive

ulf Insurance Company, the leading insurance services provider in Kuwait and the Middle East, recently
held a diabetes and blood pressure testing drive for
its staff and clients. The initiative reflects the company’s
ongoing commitment to the social fabric of Kuwait.

composed of approximately 20 leading

be visiting Kuwait from November 4-6,

ones favored and used by the Bedouin
weavers in Kuwait in particular and has
participated in International symposiums on natural dyes. The latest being

October 2014 in collaboration with Dr.
Keirene Canavan of Cardiff Metropolitan
University and a Reaserch Fellow for the
Al Sadu Weaving Cooperative Society.

Quran Quotes and Tafseer

After reading Quranic verses aloud and explaining
them very briefly, Hassan will illustrate the various connotations of some words and phrases to show the literary beauty and miracle of the Quran. The class will
involve an open discussion in a casual, relaxed setting
with the aim of reflecting and pondering verses from
the Noble Quran. In addition to that, participants will
get some insight into the Quranic Arabic.

Culturally Relevant Education
by Dr Teresa Lesher
In her thesis, Dr Teresa Lesher demonstrated that
teachers can improve student achievement by making
classroom instruction more culturally relevant. In this
lecture, she will define culturally relevant education,
describe Kuwait’s cultural profile, summarize the results
of her study, and share tips for increasing cultural relevance in the classroom. A general discussion will follow
her presentation.
