Standing Orders 442.29 130.00 Paws For A Thought You’ll may have seen that programme - “You can’t take it with you”. These programmes were about making a will and providing for the future. The lack of trust and openness was pretty stark initially in these programmes and my reaction is ‘they’ll never work this one out peacefully’ - but they do! It amazed me how many people try to control things before and after they have gone! I feel a sense of relief when things get ironed out . The key, it seems to me, is for people to talk to each other, sitting around the kitchen table over a good meal with someone to provide the initiative. That appears to be very helpful. Its amazing how many things are surmised—what the others will want, how they will react etc. This is all without ever taking the time to sit down and speak to them. The ’other side’ can be daunting while they remain ‘other side’! People want to do the right thing but just never get round to it in one way or another and so all is left in a muddle. Now while I’m on this subject of wills. Do consider expressing your desire in writing what you want for your funeral. As a Catholic you are entitled to a Requiem Mass. Not all families take care of their parents in death and it can be just a crematorium service and that is it. You can choose hymns and readings for your Mass so your death can be a great blessing to your family and your parish and friends. Write it down it’s a good one! Anyhow give it serious thought and do not take anything for granted, you are entitled to the best and God is offering you the best—’Choose Life’ especially in death. God bless you, Anam & Jerry Drop-Off points can accept gift-filled shoeboxes from 1 – 18 November 2014.
