PVC waterstop
for sealing joints
WHERE TO USE
For waterproofing construction and expansion joints
in civil, industrial and water retaining or excluding
structures.
Some typical application examples
Waterstops are used to make water-tight, water
retaining and water excluding structural joints
such as swimming pools, podium, water tanks,
retaining walls, tunnels, dams, culverts, canals ,
bridges and abutments, primary and secondary
contaminants structure, spillways, water towers,
waste water facilities, roof decks, basements and
underground parks.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Idrostop PVC is a highly flexible waterstop especially
formulated using high quality thermo-plastic vinyl
resins with excellent flexibility, which create a
product with good resistance to mechanical stresses
and excellent chemical resistance in alkaline
environments, sea-water and acidic conditions.
Suggested Preparation / design check list:
The dimensions and type of Idrostop PVC used for
each application generally depends on the following
parameters:
• Structure type
• Reinforcement position
• Joint type and joint movement within the
structure
• Hydrostatic head pressure
• Concrete / wall thickness
• Intersection profiles / types
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Idrostop PVC BIC ME (internal
construction joint) & BIE ME (internal
expansion joint)
Waterstop for this type of joint is positioned at half
the thickness of the concrete wall or as per the
project design and drawings.
The waterstop must be stretched and held in position
utilizing the eyelets along both edges fixed to nearby
reinforcement, for centrally placed BIE ME waterstop
insert a suitable type of compressible material
between the first and second cast of concrete to
form the joint, gently vibrate the adjacent concrete to
ensure total contact with the profile, honeycombs,
voids and segregation should be avoided. Concrete
shall totally embrace the ribs and this can be done by
selecting the proper concrete mix with the correct
sand and aggregate grading and the right vibrator
diameter.
When vibrating the concrete, care must be taken to
avoid damaging or moving the waterstop. Successful
application of this type of waterstop will ensure that
the structure will withstand positive and negative
water pressure.

to the formwork or the layer of lean
concrete.

HOT-WELDING THE ENDS OF
THE JOINT ON SITE
The procedure to weld the Idrostop PVC
on site and to create a perfect bond is by
on site splicing using a proper thermostatically controlled welding blade and an
adjustable jig.

The ends of the Idrostop PVC to be
welded must be cut straight and perfectly
aligned using an adjustable jig.
PACKAGING
Idrostop PVC is supplied in 10 and 12 metre
length wrapped in polyethylene.
Insert the heating blade between two
pieces of the Idrostop PVC until an even
molten bead of PVC is formed, remove
the heating blade and firmly press both
ends together to achieve a perfectly
fused, sealed weld.
STORAGE
Store in a dry place at a temperature of
between +10°C and +60°C.
