Nov. 17-21
LUNCH MENU
Monday — Teriyaki chicken, rice pilaf, vegetable blend,
pineapple chunks, dinner roll
and milk.
Tuesday—Pizza, green
beans, Caesar salad, pears and
milk.
We d n e s d a y — Tu r k e y
burger on a whole wheat bun,
baked beans, fresh broccoli,
garden salad, melon medley
and milk.
Thursday—Chili and
crackers, whole wheat bread
stick, Southwest salad, peaches
and milk.
Friday—Ham stacker with
toppings, tator tots, carrots, jicama, celery sticks, tomato,
mixed fruit and milk.
(Salad bar and/or sandwich
line available daily at high
school.)
BREAKFAST MENU
Starting at 8 a.m.
Monday —Waffles with
fruit topping, applsauce, juice
and milk.
Tuesday—Cereal, whole
wheat toast, jelly, peaches, juice
and milk.
We d n e s d a y — A p p l e
Frudel, pears, juice and milk.
Thursday—Breafast pizza,
banana, juice and milk.
Friday—Turkey sausage
bagel, pineapple, juice and
milk.
Students are encouraged to
take all the menued items for
best nutrition but are required to
take a minimum of 1/2 cup
serving of fruit or vegetables to
be a reimbursable meal.
(Cereal and yogurt available daily at high school and
elementary school. Fresh fruit
is available at both schools
daily.)
Nominations open for
2015 Teacher of the Year
Everyone remembers a
favorite teacher, someone who
motivates and inspires students
for a lifetime. Minnesotans have
the opportunity again this fall to
nominate that unique educator
for Minnesota Teacher of the
Year.
Nominations opened Oct. 1
and remain open through Nov.
15. Nominations can be submitted on-line by accessing a simple nomination form on
www.educationminnesota.org.
The 2015 Teacher of the Year
will be named at a ceremony
May 3, 2015. The Minnesota
Teacher of the Year also
becomes Minnesota’s candidate
for National Teacher of the Year.
Eligible nominees must
meet these criteria:
· Teach in a public or nonpublic Pre-K through 12thgrade school, working at least
50 percent of the time directly
with students.
· Hold a bachelor’s degree
and a Minnesota teaching
license.
Choir
concerts
C-I Schools choirs
will
perform on Sunday, Dec. 14
for its annual Holiday
Concert. Performances are 1
p.m. for last names starting
with A-K and 3 p.m. for last
names starting with L-Z in
Mayberry Auditorium.
The Winter Concert will
be held Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7
p.m.
· Have completed three years
of teaching by the nomination
deadline.
· Intend to teach during the
2015-16 school year.
Anyone may nominate a
teacher. Self-nominations are
also accepted.
The state program has been
highly successful nationally—
Minnesota ranks second behind
California with four National
Teachers of the Year.

A Crosby-Ironton High
School Veteran’s band concert
will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday,
Nov. 13 in Mayberry
Auditorium at the school.
Performing
ensembles
include seventh and eighth
grade Concert Band, ninth
through 12th grade Symphonic Band and the High School
Jazz Band.
Since Veteran's Day is Nov.
11, the program will be dedicated to anyone who has served or
is currently serving for our
country. The concert will
include patriotic songs like,
"America the Beautiful",
"Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy",
"American Patrol", "The Coast
Guard March" and of course
"The Star Spangled Banner".
A goodwill donation in any
amount would be warmly welcomed!

Deerwood Lakes Lions
offer scholarship
The Deerwood Lakes
Lions Club will be offering a
$500 non-traditional scholarship for students pre-registered for spring semester
2015.
Applicants must be at
least 23 years of age and
reside in either Crow Wing or
Aitkin counties.
Scholarships are determined by the applicants academic record, involvement in
the community and probable
success in their chosen field
and the demonstrated need of
financial assistance.

Class collects
for food shelf
The kindergarten classes at
CRES will be collecting nonperishable food items for the
Crosby Food Shelf beginning
Monday, Nov. 3 and continuing
through Friday, Nov. 14.
Please bring any items you
wish to donate to CRES during
regular school hours between 8
a.m. and 3 p.m.
