On Saturday, October 25, 2014 was the annual Trunk-NTreat at Ron DuPratt Ford in Dixon. Bill Stephenson and all
the staff at Ron DuPratt Ford put on a great event. The
weather was a little wet early in the day, but it cleared up
by the time the event actually began. We all got practice
drying our Mustangs. There were about 15 Mustangs total from both the Golden Hills
Mustang Club and the Sacramento Area Mustang Club. The GHMC members who brought
their Mustang include Tammy and Mike Robinette, Norma and Dan McCabe, Lisa and John
Rose, Ileine and Terry Burke, Laura Mize, Bill Davis, Amy and Craig Beckley, Sally Wright,
Kathy and Bob Loya and Kirk Stafford. Most participants wore costumes and everyone
brought Trick-or-Treat candy to share. Lunch included barbequed hamburgers and hot
dogs, chips, cookies, sodas, water and lots of trick-or-treat candy. All participants received
a goodie bag and was entered in the raffle. There were many 50 th Mustang Birthday items
as well as other Mustang related stuff won in the raffle. There were 5 “Best of Awards”
given out and awards were won by Terry and Ileine Burke, Tammy and Mike Robinette and
Laura Mize. We were visited by the von Tings, the Cordeiros, the Bauers, the Hausmans
and Scott Garrison. The winning raffle ticket for the 2014 Golden Hills Mustang Club pedal
car was drawn and the winner of the pedal car was Jennifer Beckley. -Kirk Stafford

CLUB PURPOSE
The Golden Hills Mustang Club, established in
1982, is a nonprofit organization, the purpose of
which is to promote the admiration, ownership, care
and maintenance of the Ford Mustang Automobile regardless of model year.
The club provides a social group for its members
whereby they can meet, socialize and maintain a
spirit of good fellowship, and participate in activities
including the use of their Mustang.
The club serves as a medium for the exchange of
ideas, information and parts, and is dedicated to
furthering the interest of owners and drivers of the
Ford Mustang.

As the year gets closer to December, we all know that the rain is on its way. This can be a depressing time
of the year, for some, since they put their Mustangs away until springtime. For those of us who do not care,
it can be a slow time for Mustang events. But we still do have many events on the club calendar for the
duration of the year. On Saturday, November 1st is the club member’s opportunity to test drive the 2015
aluminum body Ford F-150 in Dixon; a park-n-ride clean up at the Suisun City park-n-ride lot on Saturday,
November 8th; the Veterans Day parade in Fairfield on Tuesday, November 11th; our annual drive to Apple
Hill on Saturday, November 15th and the GHMC annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 20th.
With the Holiday Season approaching, there will be a greater need for donations and assistance for families
in need. The GHMC has several events on our calendar to provide assistance during this special time of the
year. On Sunday, November 30, Vacaville Foster's Freeze and GHMC will be having a Toy and Food Drive.
The toy drive will benefit a local charity and is scheduled from 11am to 3pm at the Vacaville Foster's Freeze.
Our Information officer will send out an e-mail blast with the list of toys and items needed. We will also be
collecting non-perishable food items for the St. Marks Lutheran Church food bank and the St. Vincent de
Paul food bank. On Saturday, November 29 Napa's Foster's Freeze and our friends at the Napa Valley
Cruisers will also hold a Toy Drive to benefit the California Highway Patrol Toy Drive. This event is also
scheduled from 11am to 3pm.
Officers and Board members have been nominated for the 2015 year. You should have received your ballot(s)
soon. Please take the time to fill it out completely and either mail it back to the club's P.O. Box or bring it
to the November general meeting. Ballots are due by the start of the November general meeting. I'd like to
thank all those GHMC members who stepped forward and accepted their nomination for an officer or board
position.
The past club events include the New Life Auto Salon rescheduled car display on September 28th; the 5th
annual Gordon Valley Fire Department car show on October 5th; the annual Sacramento International Auto
Show at Cal Expo on October 17th – 19th; Mustangs and More at
the Nut Tree airport on October 18th; the fall Mustangs Plus car
show on October 18th and our annual Trunk-n-Treat at Ron DuPratt
Ford in Dixon on October 25th. We also drew the winning ticket
for this year’s annual Pedal Car raffle at the Trunk-n-Treat.
This month begins the Assist-A-Grad scholarship process. Frank
Lopez is the club’s liaison for the scholarship program at the
Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. If you want to help with
the scholarship process in any way, please let Frank know.
It is also important to remember the club’s many charitable
commitments, including food for the St. Marks Lutheran Church
food bank and the St. Vincent de Paul food bank, in addition to our
troops overseas. Please continue to bring food donations and Pony
Express Troop donations to our events and meetings.

Sunshine Corner
This month the club sent their heartfelt sympathy to two members
who recently lost close family members. Frank Lopez lost his mom,
Nettie. Carl and Sharon McCune lost their daughter, Melissa.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to both families.
If anyone knows of any member in need of some Sunshine, please let me know!

There will be a special raffle for everyone who brings a food donation to the general
meeting. You will receive one raffle ticket for each non-perishable food item brought
to the meeting. Bring food donations for the local food banks and get a chance to

The Sacramento International Auto Show is put on by
the Greater Sacramento Dealers New Car Association
along with Stacey Castle of Castle Communications at Cal
Expo. This is an opportunity for car manufacturers to
showcase the latest models. For the past 6 years,
Stacey has invited the Golden Hills Mustang Club to be
part of this show with our classic Mustangs. We are giving a section in the Ford Building along with the
new Ford's and the Classic Thunder Bird's.
This is a 3 day, Friday thru Sunday, show but we have to have our Mustangs in place on Thursday
afternoon. Once we are inside they place the rest of the new Fords and complete their display. Our
Mustangs stayed in place until Sunday evening. This
year, Ford had two 2015 GT Mustangs on display; one
was a preproduction model, but the other we could sit
in. We were told that we all would be able to drive a
new Eco Boost 2015 Mustang on Friday, and we DID!
It was Awesome!
The show started at 10:00 am on Friday morning and
GHMC members manned the booth until it closed at
6pm on Sunday. Our Mustangs were behind a barrio,
but we could invite people in and talk about our club
and our Mustangs. We also had Terry Burke and Keira
McCabe's pedal cars on display to the delight of
many of the young and old visitors. This was a very busy weekend with other events going on but it was
nice to see some of our club members who didn't display their Mustangs drive up and join us. This show
has something for everyone. Besides the Ford test track you could drive cars and trucks from other
car companies on a controlled course. Classic cars, Horseless carriages, RC race cars, Exotics,
Airstream trailers, funky race cars, and Kids playrooms
were just a few more of the attractions.

I Blame It On The Nitro!
So it begins, my mom goes in to labor
with me at the drag races in Tucson, Arizona while watching my dad race…it is all
her fault…my need for speed that is. It
had to have been all the nitro she inhaled!
I was raised around cars, two Uncles
raced and my dad did too as well as pit
for some funny car teams back in the day.
My family was always at the track. When
I was old enough to buy my own car – first
one was a green VW Rabbit but we won’t
go there, it was a momentary lapse of
reason based on some bad advice and it
never happened again.
So my Mustang history began as follows:
First was a Mustang II – I was so proud driving around with the T-tops off, wind in my hair. Until the timing chain went
out on the “old” Benicia Bridge at 10:00 p.m. That was the end of that run.
Second was a 85 SVO – talk about a sleeper, that 4-cylendar turbo would kick in and it was off to the races. It was the
only car I have ever spun out in. Ended up selling it to a guy from Utah,
only years later to find out it is one of the top 25 most collectible
Mustangs. Oh well, live and learn right?
Third was a 98 Special Edition Mustang by California Concepts – First
(and last) black Mustang I have owned. There were only 300 created
and I had one of them. Great car and really liked that body style but it
was so tough to keep clean. I decided to let that one go.
Fourth was a new edition 2001 Mach 1 – it was a gift from a boyfriend.
Unfortunately, boyfriend left and so did the car. What is up with that?
Fifth was a 2006 GT – great car and the one I had the longest. I used it
as a daily driver as well as my club show car. But that need for speed
kicked in and it was traded in on my current Mustang.
Sixth and current is a 2011 SMS Supercar Mustang – one I stumbled
across by accident one day.
It wasn’t even out on the Napa Ford lot. I had stopped in to look at the
new GT500 and a Roush Stage 1 they had out front. I hadn’t seen the new body styles and just wanted to look, no
interest in buying anything, famous last words right? Then when I happened to mention to the sales woman, that at
some point I wanted to get a Boss 302, she said they had two in the back – of course they did. Who knew Napa Ford
was a Motor Trend dealership and they get specialty Mustangs! I went back there and one was covered up, when she
started to take off the cover I just told her to stop, it was a Laguna Seca Boss 302 which is nothing but a race car. I
needed a daily driver so that was impractical. Then she said the silver one was around the corner, drat, that was the
color I wanted, I knew I was in trouble. I walked around the corner and there it was. But something was odd, where was
the Mustang badging and what was this SMS stuff? I have been around a lot of Mustangs and in a Mustang club for 15
years yet I never heard of an SMS. Well, they didn’t have much info on the car only that is was #14 and a Steve Saleen
built one. It peaked my interest so I took a closer look then of course had to take it out for a test drive. Man, I was
hooked immediately! Not really knowing what I had, I couldn’t resist the horsepower and how it looked. I had never seen
one at a show so it was nice to have something “new”. Saleen is stingy with information until the last car leaves his
shop. One of his mechanics called me and I found out that there were only 30 of these cars in 2011 and I had #14. It
was also the first one delivered to a dealership, the first one bought and the only one in Northern California. In addition
to all that great news, Saleen took my car back for a few weeks to make some adjustments to it. Since it sold so fast
(the day after it arrived at Napa Ford) those adjustments hadn’t been done yet. He made some “tweeks” and gave the
car 500 hsp for free - JACKPOT!! It is really great to have a “rare” car that people have said they have only seen on line
or in a magazine, not in person. And to date, I have never seen another one. Needless to say, it was no longer going to
be a daily driver – it’s irreplaceable – so I went and bought a Fiesta SE to use as a daily driver since I only go 9 miles
round trip a day to/from work. Don’t laugh it is a zippy little car!
You know on those beautiful Napa Saturdays when it is clear, the hot air balloons are out and that sun is shining, that
need for speed comes knocking on my door so off I go. Next time you see me around town or at a show, come by

On September 27, 2014 a few club members gathered for the Fifth
Annual Budweiser Classic Car Show. Once again all pre-registered
participants received a trophy, which this year was a Budweiser can
with a steering wheel on top. Each year so far a different can/
bottle design has been used.
Even though there were rumors of rain, it turned out to be a very
nice day. The weather was great! A lot of other car enthusiasts agreed, as there were approximately
372 entries this year.
Joining us Loya’s were Ed and Joann Bodoh, Kirk Stafford, Frank Lopez, and Brian Evans. Everyone had
a good time listening to music, relaxing and napping.
Congratulations to Ed and Joann Bodoh for winning an award for Best Mustang with their 1968
Gulfstream Aqua Coupe!
Turns out the car was a “chick magnet” and all the

It was a very blustery day at Ron DuPratt Ford on October 25th. We were participating in the
Trunk-n-Treat event, where we display our cars and bring candy for the kids (and some of us
dress in costume). My candy bucket was nearly empty and the wind was blowing it around. Our
dear Kathy Loya rescued the bucket and hung it from my antennae so I wouldn’t lose it.
Unfortunately, I forgot all about it – but was soon reminded before I got out of the parking lot. It was
out of my sight, but still dangling from my antennae! Both Dan McCabe and Tammy Robinette stopped me before I
got away and caused a road hazard. Dan took the pleasure of “ratting me out” at the last meeting since I wasn’t
there to defend myself. It’s honestly not the worst thing I have done, but the past hasn’t caught up with me yet!

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT looks like a sweet ride with plenty of power for the $32,000 price
tag, but some might not find 435 horsepower to be enough. If that's the case, there's always
the Hennessey edition.
The limited edition HPE700 Supercharged Upgrade for the 2015 GT bumps it up to an
impressive 717 horsepower, going from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
“We’re very excited about the 2015 Ford Mustang and so are our performance-minded
clients,” John Hennessey said. “Our HPE700 Supercharged upgrade will elevate this Motown
Missile’s performance to rival some of the fastest European sports cars. We can’t wait to
share our specially tuned Mustang with the world."
The catch is that only 500 will be built for the 2015 model year, and you can bet they’ll be a
hot commodity. If you are going to buy one, though, thankfully it won't cost you your house.
The price tag sits at $59,500, which isn't bad for a super car of this sort.
