Greater New York and New England Chapters 28th ANNUAL NORTHEAST REGIONAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center Stamford, Connecticut November 7-9, 2014 MEETING DESCRIPTION The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Greater New York and New England Chapters of the SNMMI is a continuing education course designed for nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, technologists, and scientists. Nationally recognized faculty will provide attendees with information that will enhance clinical practice. This year’s program will review nuclear medicine applications to such fields as cardiology, neurology, oncology, and therapy. Advances in topics such as PET, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, infection imaging, PET/MRI and molecular targeting and therapy will also be included. TARGET AUDIENCE: This meeting is intended for all nuclear medicine physicians, scientists, physicists, technologists, and nursing professionals. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to: Discuss the clinical applications of molecular breast imaging Discuss the clinical applications of SPECT/CT in Oncology Discuss and identify novel PET tracers Discuss environmental concerns and challenges facing the field of nuclear medicine Recognize artifacts and errors in PET and SPECT images Discuss novel radiopharmaceuticals for use in the diagnosis of renal cancer Discuss the use of nuclear medicine procedures in diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer Discuss the use of imaging in bone metastasis Discuss the clinical utility of PET regarding imaging responses to therapy Discuss the use of PET and PET/CT in gastrointestinal disorders and disease processes Discuss the clinical applications of MIBG imaging Describe techniques used for neuroblastoma imaging Describe the techniques and protocols used for monoclonal antibody imaging Discuss the use of nuclear medicine in identifying infection and inflammation processes Discuss the use of molecular imaging in diagnosis and risk stratification of coronary artery disease Discuss the use of cardiac PET in the diagnosis and identification of cardiac sarcoidosis Discuss techniques and radiopharmaceuticals used for imaging cardiac innervation NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGISTS: VOICE CATEGORY A CREDITS The SNMMI, through its Verification of Involvement in Continuing Education (VOICE) program, has approved this meeting to offer continuing education hours (CEHs), final hour count TBD closer to the meeting. VOICE-approved credit is recognized by most licensure states and by the NMTCB and ARRT as Category A credit. Participants will receive CE credit for those sessions at which they were present a minimum of 80% of the session. PHYSICIAN: CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Inc. (SNMMI) and the New England and Greater New York Chapters, SNMMI. The SNMMI is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Self-Assessment Module (SAM) Credits In addition to CME credits, physician attendees will have the opportunity to earn SAM credits. Physicians must attend the entire session to earn SAM credits, and complete the postactivity online assessment. Papers are invited on all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. All accepted presentations will be in poster format (4’ vertical x 8’ horizontal boards). An award ceremony will be held on November 8 @ 5:00 PM for the best posters as determined by the Judging Panel. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and must be prepared using standard word processing software (Microsoft Word is preferred). All authors’ names and affiliations should be listed immediately following the title. Tables and figures should be included in the “Results” section. Please include the corresponding author’s name, address, and contact information. All accepted abstracts will be published in Clinical Nuclear Medicine.
