The ever growing distance between the producers and consumers in time and in location, creates new challenges for the market players. The new technological methods that the food processing industry is applying in order to face these challenges have been criticized heavily by various NGOs and the media. Various ingredients used in food products nowadays are blamed by these organizations for causing a series of health problems.
