Professional Development
All SCECH applications are pending approval at this time. Please note that to receive the SCECH credit listed for
each class, all sessions must be attended in their entirety and all online assignments must be complete.
We have a no show policy with a charge of $10.00 if you register and do not attend; cancellations must be made
at least one week before the training. Walk ins will be charged $10.00 and only admitted after all registrants
have been placed.
Professional development offered by the Regional Preschool Partnership is always free to GSRP Staff from
Gratiot-Isabella, Midland and Saginaw Counties. All other registrants will be charged a fee of $20.00 per each

Teaching Strategies GOLD for the Administrators!

Participants will become familiar with how to create and manage teacher
accounts, view lesson plans and child documentation submitted by
teachers, how to customize checkpoint periods, and run various reports
when planning for professional development, program and child
outcome goals.

This half-day training will be held on December 12th from 8:30 am to 11:45 am at MCESA Sugnet Computer
Lab.
Winter Professional Development Series
The Winter Professional Development Series is offered to GSRP teaching staff in the Regional Preschool Partnership
free of charge. Registration is limited to Consortium members until December 12, 2014; after that date, registration
will be opened to non consortium teachers for a fee. The following four classes are part of the series and teachers may
only select one of the four topics to attend.
Parts of the Day: What this looks like in the PQA
No matter what curriculum you use, you will gain a better
understanding of what a high quality preschool day looks like
according to the Preschool Quality Assessment. This class is
geared to the beginner or intermediate preschool teacher. Topics
will include elements of the daily schedule. Please bring a copy
of your daily routine.

This two session, three part workshop will be held on January 9th and February 6th from 11:30-1:30 at the
Saginaw Transition Center, or on January 16th and February 27th from 9:00-11:00 at the Mahoney
Administration Building in Ithaca. The final portion of the workshop will be a homework/reflection assignment
to be completed and emailed to the facilitator.
Partners in Play: Interaction Strategies that
Promote Learning
What is the difference between encouragement and praise?
How do teachers really share control of the classroom and
learning experiences with children? This workshop will go
deeper into how teachers intentionally plan interaction
strategies that support and extend learning opportunities
with children.

Math Throughout the Day

Math is all around us, but it doesn't “just happen” either. In
this workshop, you will review how children learn and progress
through early math skills. You will practice strategies for
encouraging math through meaningful interactions all day
long.

Observation: the Key to Responsive Teaching

After attending this workshop, you will know how to observe
with purpose and intention, build even stronger relationships
with your children, and gain a better understanding of your
children’s’ development and learning. You will be able to
teach responsively with informed decisions and interactions
based on your observations.
