ARMISTICE DAY – Tuesday 11 November
I am sure everyone is aware that Tuesday 11 November is Armistice Day when people
in many countries commemorate the ending of World War 1. The war officially ended
at 11.00 am on the 11th November 1918. To give us, as a school community, the
opportunity to show respect and to mark this very important anniversary there will be
a short silence in school starting two minutes before 11.00 am on Tuesday morning. The
silence will start when a bell rings at 10.58 am and end with the interval bell at 11.00
am. I am sure we will all appreciate having these moments to think about the impact of
war and the importance and value of peace.
Mr Jowett

Thanks to all pupils who have shown an interest so far. It would be great to get a few
more of you on board to up the competition! The concept we’d like you to form
ideas/write about is:
"A simple idea to make the World better…."
This gives you the opportunity to write about anything you are passionate about.
The next meeting will be after the in-service days on Thursday 20th November in W2.
We’ll discuss the December deadline and get some input and guidance from the English
department on structuring your written piece. Please see Mrs Lightowler to register

S5/6 Ernst & Young School Leavers Programme
We have been offered the chance to have a representative from Ernst and Young, a
major international Business and Accounting Firm, to come to the school and discuss
their current School Leavers Program as a possible alternative to university or
certainly as a very good plan 'B'.
Any of you who remember a former Clachnaben House Captain Jimmy McPetrie may be
aware that he is now successfully into his third year of this particular program and on
course for a successful career in business and accounting.
If you are considering a career in Business, Admin, Accounts, Economics Management
or Law then this talk might interest you. If so please give your name to your Guidance
Teacher and thereafter Mr Rennie will be in contact with you.
