To help you take your first steps, we will have people from our church who are already connected, but were once new to SPBC. They will be able to connect with you, answer questions you might have, and help you find a place at SPBC. The lunch will take place right after our 2nd service in our Connections Café. You have to eat lunch anyway; why not have lunch on us? We look forward to meeting you today! Pastor Janelle will be officially ordained that evening at 6:00 in the sanctuary. We encourage everyone to attend this special service. Christmas Poinsettias If you would like to purchase a Christmas poinsettia in memory or in honor of a loved one, please use form found in today’s Weekly News and place in offering plate or return to church office. Cost is $8 and deadline to order is December 1. Thanksgiving Offering During the month of November, our Thanksgiving offering will go toward the Building Fund. If you would like to give to the Building Fund, please use the Thanksgiving Offering envelope made available in the back of the pews. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $14,300 through this offering. Thanksgiving Dinner on November 23 We will be having a special church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner on November 23 at 6:00 pm in the Family Center. This is a great opportunity to come together and connect with your church family. The meal will be provided but we are asking that you bring a dessert to share. Reservation cards can be found at the Information Center. Wednesday Night Bible Study Series Join us on Wednesday night as we continue our 5-week Bible study series on “The Tabernacle - God Dwelling With Us.” The study starts at 6:00 and is held in Room 230. Coat Drive Our Coat Drive with Old Man Rivers is now in full swing! If you would like to help by supplying a winter coat to a child in the community, please see the display in the foyer for complete details. There you can choose a tag with a specific child's coat information (size, gender, etc.). Then simply add your name to the sign-up list. Please be sure to return your tag with the coat. See the display in the foyer or contact Julie Balsley at (304) 428-1746 with any questions. Upward Basketball Scholarships Needed We have 12 children in need of Upward Basketball scholarships. If you are willing to sponsor a child for $55.00, please contact Ryan Cochran at (304) 917-1633 or Pastor Janelle. Christmas Tea The annual Christmas Tea, hosted by American Baptist Women's Ministries, will be held on Sunday, December 7 in the Fellowship Hall at 4:30 pm. Please register at the Information Center if you plan to attend. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods, salads, or desserts to share. For more information, contact Georgia Parsons at (304) 665-2822. Also, if you are willing to host a table, please contact Pamm Mackey at (304) 422-7098. Healthy Cooking for the Holidays The SPBC Wellness Center is sponsoring “Healthy Cooking for the Holidays” classes this week. The two classes will be held on Monday, November 17 (9-11:00 am) and Thursday, November 20 (6-8:00 pm) in the Fellowship Hall. During American Diabetes Month, the Change the Future WV AmeriCorps members are helping local residents to begin living a healthier lifestyle through the “America Gets Cooking to Stop Diabetes.” These classes are free and open to the public. Volunteers Needed The SPBC Preschool Learning Center is in need of your help. If you would be interested in being on our substitution list or being a volunteer, please contact Pastor Janelle for more information. Preschool Fundraiser The Preschool will be taking orders for “Pampered Chef” and “Thirty One” through November 21. See display in old foyer for order forms.
