At our lunch, we will discuss how we live this out through
the different ministries in our church. To help you take your
first steps, we will have people from our church who are
already connected, but were once new to SPBC. They will
be able to connect with you, answer questions you might
have, and help you find a place at SPBC.
The lunch will take place right after our 2nd service in our
Connections Café. You have to eat lunch anyway; why not
have lunch on us? We look forward to meeting you today!

Pastor Janelle’s Ordination Service
Mark your calendars for the evening of November 30. Pastor Janelle
will be officially ordained that evening at 6:00 in the sanctuary. We
encourage everyone to attend this special service.
Christmas Poinsettias
If you would like to purchase a Christmas poinsettia in memory
or in honor of a loved one, please use form found in today’s Weekly
News and place in offering plate or return to church office. Cost is $8
and deadline to order is December 1.
Thanksgiving Offering
During the month of November, our Thanksgiving offering will go
toward the Building Fund. If you would like to give to the Building
Fund, please use the Thanksgiving Offering envelope made available
in the back of the pews. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $14,300
through this offering.
Thanksgiving Dinner on November 23
We will be having a special church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner on
November 23 at 6:00 pm in the Family Center. This is a great
opportunity to come together and connect with your church family.
The meal will be provided but we are asking that you bring a dessert
to share. Reservation cards can be found at the Information Center.
Wednesday Night Bible Study Series
Join us on Wednesday night as we continue our 5-week Bible study
series on “The Tabernacle - God Dwelling With Us.” The study starts at
6:00 and is held in Room 230.
Coat Drive
Our Coat Drive with Old Man Rivers is now in full swing! If you would
like to help by supplying a winter coat to a child in the community,
please see the display in the foyer for complete details. There you can
choose a tag with a specific child's coat information (size, gender,
etc.). Then simply add your name to the sign-up list. Please be sure to
return your tag with the coat. See the display in the foyer or contact
Julie Balsley at (304) 428-1746 with any questions.
Upward Basketball Scholarships Needed
We have 12 children in need of Upward Basketball scholarships. If you
are willing to sponsor a child for $55.00, please contact Ryan Cochran
at (304) 917-1633 or Pastor Janelle.
Christmas Tea
The annual Christmas Tea, hosted by American Baptist Women's
Ministries, will be held on Sunday, December 7 in the Fellowship Hall
at 4:30 pm. Please register at the Information Center if you plan to
attend. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods, salads, or
desserts to share. For more information, contact Georgia Parsons at
(304) 665-2822. Also, if you are willing to host a table, please contact
Pamm Mackey at (304) 422-7098.
Healthy Cooking for the Holidays
The SPBC Wellness Center is sponsoring “Healthy Cooking for the
Holidays” classes this week. The two classes will be held on Monday,
November 17 (9-11:00 am) and Thursday, November 20 (6-8:00 pm) in
the Fellowship Hall. During American Diabetes Month, the Change the
Future WV AmeriCorps members are helping local residents to begin
living a healthier lifestyle through the “America Gets Cooking to Stop
Diabetes.” These classes are free and open to the public.
Volunteers Needed
The SPBC Preschool Learning Center is in need of your help. If you
would be interested in being on our substitution list or being a
volunteer, please contact Pastor Janelle for more information.
Preschool Fundraiser
The Preschool will be taking orders for “Pampered Chef” and “Thirty
One” through November 21. See display in old foyer for order forms.
