Welcome new members: TODAY’S GOSPEL REFLECTION Jesus' parable of the talents was an allegory on wise stewardship for his disciples while they awaited his return and anticipated the Last Judgment. In the story, each servant was given a different sum of money to invest. (A talent was a Greek coin worth about 6,000 denarii, equal to a year's wages. Its modern-day meaning of a special aptitude or gift is derived from the use of the word in this parable.) The first two servants made wise investments and doubled their money. The third servant, fearing his master's rebuke should he fail, buried the money for safe-keeping. When the master returned, each individual was asked to give an account of his stewardship. The wise servants were rewarded for their fidelity. They were given even greater responsibilities, and were invited to the heavenly banquet. The one who saw his master as a tyrant and therefore acted unwisely was punished, losing the gift that had been given to him. FOOD PANTRY: With Thanksgiving, the Season of Advent and Christmas just around the corner, we all begin thinking of family visits and gi s to buy. I would like to ask that we all do a li le soul searching and remember God’s call to serve. There is a great need for love and compassion toward those struggling through hard mes. In the Food Pantry line, there are many families each week, now more than ever, that do not know where their next meal is coming from. Words can’t describe the look of gra tude on their faces when you give them a bag of essen als that so many of us take for granted. During this beau ful season, let us not forget that our Catholic Faith calls us to serve. Please fill a bag of groceries and leave it in the container in the ves bule or consider a weekly dona on in a marked envelope in the collec on basket. We must help those in need, not as a sacrifice, but as our responsibility. Thank you, Steely Mays, Saint Raphael Food Pantry Manager. 12/02/2014 12/04/2014 12/09/2014 12/09/2014 12/10/2014 12/11/2014 12/16/2014 12/18/2014 Tue Thu Tue Tue Wed Thu Tue Thu Deanery Advent Reconciliation Services Reconciliation Service - Fayetteville Reconciliation Service - Rogers Reconciliation Service - Bella Vista Reconciliation Servicio - St. Raphael Reconciliation Service - St. Thomas Reconciliation Service - St. Stephens Reconciliation Service - St. Mary Reconciliation Service - St. Joseph 7:00 PM Fayetteville 6:30 PM Rogers 2:00 PM Bella Vista 7:00 PM Church 7:00 PM Fayetteville 7:00 PM Bentonville 7:00 PM Siloam Springs 7:00 PM Tontitown The St. Raphael Food Pantry gives over 1,000 pounds of food each week.
