The Common Core Learning Standards prepare students for college or career readiness. Library lessons provide important research skills that are essential for lifelong learning. In the fall of 2003, an Illinois state study was performed to determine the impact of school libraries on student learning and achievement. The findings from the study, the 14th of its kind, confirmed that higher student learning and achievement is linked to strong school library programs.
