SEMESTER 1 – EVENING SUBJECTS TUESDAY EVENINGS • BS121 New Testament 1 The unit is an introduction to the study of the New Testament focusing on assisting students to read the New Testament writings aware of their historical, literary and theological nature. There is a particular emphasis on the structure, content and distinctive theological emphases on Ephesians in Semester 1. The unit focuses on the historical setting, the content and major themes of the Pentateuch with a special emphasis on the book of Genesis. There is a particular emphasis on the structure, content and distinctive theological emphases of the Gospel of Mark in Semester 2. It focuses on the unfolding self-revelation of God in human history as revealed in the Bible. It provides understanding of God’s work in the world, through a greater appreciation of how God has revealed himself culminating in the Lord Jesus Christ. The unit is an introduction to the study of the New Testament focusing on assisting students to read the New Testament writings aware of their historical, literary and theological nature. There is a particular emphasis on the structure, content and distinctive theological emphases of the Gospel of Mark on Tuesdays and on Ephesians on Fridays. • CM151 Evangelistic Apologetics (DipB&Miss/DipB&Min only) This unit aims to equip the student to understand and communicate the Scriptures in a clear, innovative and creative way through structures that recognize and utilize the diversity of social and cultural settings in which people operate. • BS102 Greek 1A Location: Lecturer: Time: Location: Colin Bale Tuesdays 12.10pm – 2.50pm (includes break) Moore College (BD /BTh /DipB&Miss elective only) This unit provides the basic elements of the New Testament Greek for New Testament study. It focuses on morphology, grammar and vocabulary, assisting students to understand New Testament Greek at a word/sentence level. The Hebrew 1 unit aims to begin students on a life of study of the Hebrew Old Testament and the message it conveys. The unit focuses on helping students begin to build a basic vocabulary, acquire a basic knowledge of Hebrew grammar and syntax, and practice key translation skills. A competent use of Hebrew grammar and syntax will ground the student’s subsequent OT exegetical and theological work in the original forms of expression of the text. It lays a foundation for a more informed engagement with the contemporary church setting. THURSDAYS • CM102 Ministry and Mission 1 This unit focuses on the foundational principles of ministry & mission, the pastor’s spiritual life, personal ministry and the proclamation of God’s Word. It will assist in the development of the student’s commitment to living a life consistent with the teachings of the Bible, and of building God’s church by the proclamation of the Word through effective, loving relationships. FRIDAYS • BS121 New Testament 1 (Ephesians) The unit continues the Tuessday classes, and is an introduction to the study of the New Testament focusing on assisting students to read the New Testament writings aware of their historical, literary and theological nature. There is a particular emphasis on the structure, content and distinctive theological emphases on Ephesians.
