CNPO lauds setting up of
delivery points
CHANDEL, Nov 23
Chandel Naga Peoples' Organization has hailed the whole team of
district block-wise cluster area on health awareness and delivery
point led by district Health Mission Director Dr N Birchandra
Singh for the relentless efforts the team had been putting forth for
improving health care facilities in the remote areas of the district.
President of CNPO Ws Kanral Anal told mediapersons
here in Chandel that setting up of delivery points in few places
like Unopat Primary Health Sub Centre, Sajik Tampak Primary Health Sub Centre and Purum Tampak Primary Health
Sub Centre, as reported in the local dailies, is an evidence of
how the team in the past few days had reached out to the
remote areas and provided health care services.
Saying this is possible due to the action taken up by the
Director of Health Services and National Health Mission Dr
Okram Ibomcha Singh, the president went on to thank the
Director for providing all the equipment to the people.
LFC releases gospel motion album

KANGPOKPI, Nov 23: Lennagam Film Company (LFC)
released its first Gospel Motion Album in Thadou-Kuki titled
“Ken La’n sang’e” today at Taphou Kuki village along with a
felicitation event for Miss Kut 2014 winner Lamneimoi Chongloi.
The function was graced by Haotinlen Vaiphei, special
contractor, PWD, Government of Manipur and chief of
Molnom village as Chief Guest, Lenkhomang Chongloi, member of ADC Sadar Hills as the functional president while L
John Kuba, Deputy Inspector of School, ADC Senapati, Raju
Sharma, Manager, Satyam Industry, Taphou and K Heshat
Kipgen, Secretary, Kanggui Area Chief Association attended
as the guests of honour.
Lamneimoi Chongloi, Miss Kut 2014 attended as special
guest of today's event.
Various artistes from different community including
Eikhoigi Lamdam Trio and several CSOs and Church leaders
also attended the function.

Paibis staged a sit-in-protest at
Achom
Leikai
today
demanding immediate release
of RK Surjit who was taken into
custody for his alleged
connection with the proscribed
PLA.
Surjit's mother, who took
an active part in the protest
demonstration here today, defying the charges made
against her son by the
Manipur State Police Department, said Surjit, 34, father
of three children, was leading
an ordinary life as a shopkeeper.
Surjit was arrested by the
district police commando,
Imphal West on November 21
from Iroisemba near Hiden
community hall for his alleged connection with the
PLA.
On November 20, she
continued, at around 10.30
pm a CID sub-inspector came
to Surjit's house armed with
guns and inquired the
whereabouts of Surjit.
Surjit wasn't home till then,
she informed.
The sub-inspector, whose
face was all covered up when
he entered, turned out to be
one Surjit's former friend
Sushil,
alleged
Surjit's
mother.
Before leaving, Sushil
placed a demand of Rs 3 lakh
to be delivered within the time
frame of 10 days failing
which, she alleged, Sushil
threatened to kill Surjit.
On November 21, at
around 7.30 am Shushil allegedly hauled up a helper in
Surjit's
shop,
Saikhom
Subon, 23, s/o S Loken,
Naoremthong, demanding that
he snap his ties with Surjit.
On the same day, at around
9 am, Sushil allegedly came

Kongkham Leikai felicitated Rojit alias Thembung, s/o Dr Irom
Chourajit and Dr Rupomani, 13th rank holder in Manipur Civil
Services Combined Competitive Examination, 2014 under MPSC
with a small felicitation ceremony today at Kongpal Kongkham
Leikai.
The programme was graced by Naorem Ibochou, assistant

Zilla Sainik board CDL condoles
CHANDEL, Nov 23: Ex-service men, Zilla Sainik Board
Chandel District condoled the death of Ex-Sub Wl Joseph Anal
VRC (Vir Chakra recipient) who expired on November 22 at
RIMS Imphal due to an illness.
While sharing the deep sorrow of the bereaved family
members, it informed that 49 year old Wl Joseph was enrolled in the Naga Regiment in 1983. While he was posted
in Kiran Sector, Jammu & Kashmir as a havildar, Wl Joseph
was awarded the President Honours services Personnel
Medal, Vir Chakra.
He was promoted to the rank of Subedar in 2003. He
finally retired from service in 2010.

One woman killed, 3 injured
in dispute over land

Krishnagar, Nov 23: One
woman was killed and three
other persons suffered bullet
wounds today in a dispute over
farmland at Krishnaganj in
Nadia district, police said.
The incident took place
when the members of Ghosh
family
from
nearby
Tirpurpara village allegedly
shot them as they tried to stop
the family members from
forcefully tilling their land
using a tractor, police said.
Aprna Das (50), two other
women and a man received
bullet injuries and were
rushed to Shaktinagar Hospital here, police said, adding,
Das was declared brought
dead.
Family members of Das
and other villagers are marginal farmers and used to farm
in the 20 bighas of vested agricultural land. Since most of
the male members of the
families were outside, so the
housewives went to stop the
tilling of their land, police
said.
The members of Ghosh
family however, claimed, they
had bought the farmland at
Ghugra Gachi in Krishnaganj
police station, they said. A
large contingent of police
went to the spot. However,
nobody has been arrested yet,
police said.

Organized to create awareness of the location as the
first battle of second world

Punia attacks NDA Govt over BHU violence

Senior Congress leader P L
Punia today attacked the NDA
government over the violence
in Banaras Hindu University
(BHU) over the last few days.
"The HRD ministry is responsible for this violent
incident in BHU, along with
the entire BHU administration
which failed to control the
worsening situation in the
university campus," Punia
said.
In an apparent attack at
HRD Minister Smriti Irani, he
said, "Those who didn't appoint the Vice Chancellor of
Banaras Hindu University for
the last two months after the
former VC's term ended, are
responsible for the violence."
Referring to the students'
demand for holding of students' union election, over
which protests were held
leading to clashes with police, Punia said Congress had
favoured it when it was in
power in the previous government. "There is a
recommendation of Lyngdoh
committee to hold students
union election but BHU violated this by not holding the
students union election and
instead going ahead with a
students council elections.

Sterilization deaths : Labs confirm
poisonous content in medicines
BILASPUR, Nov 23: Nearly
two weeks after botched
sterilization surgeries claimed
13 lives and left many critical,
medical reports have confirmed
the presence of poisonous
substance in the medicines
which were distributed to the
women at the state-run
tubectomy camps in Bilaspur.
Health minister Amar
Agrawal said the reports of
samples of medicines and viscera have been received from
all the laboratories, including
Delhi and Kolkata, and were
handed over to police for further action.
"All the reports have been
received and it is now clear
that
poison-contaminated
medicines caused the deaths
of women," he said.
