Principal’s Report
We have hit a very busy time of year when there are
excursions, camps, visiting performances, after
school events and planning for next all going on at
Lucknow PS.
Last week I had the privilege of attending the Rotary
Community Awards for our senior students. This year
we had 38 awardees which is the most from any
school since the awards began. I would like to
recognise the hard work that the students put in to
earn these awards and thank the staff that were
involved. This is a program that Mrs Horman
normally organises and still contributed to this year
as well as Mrs Norling and a big effort from Sylvana
Swan.
1EW
Bianca Mayall - she is gaining confidence as a
reader and is becoming much more fluent. She is
also giving a more detailed retell of a story she
has read. Well done Bianca!

her reading. Well done Cameron.

Emily Anderson – For a huge improvement in
reading comprehension. Well Done! Keep
practising!
The Energy Breakthrough students held a dinner on
Friday night which was well attended and was an
opportunity for the two teams to make their
presentation before an audience. Both presentations
were fantastic and we wish the teams all the best for
the events which will take place from today to
Saturday.
MBM

Lucknow Values – Respect: Care: Honesty: Inclusiveness: Commitment
•
Children are encouraged to come dressed in
their house colours for the day.
•
Children will need to bring their lunch, snacks
and plenty to drink to the pool. We will be
eating lunch at the pool so children will not
be able to have lunch orders.
•
The canteen will not be open at the pool so
children will not need to bring any money to
school.
Claire James - for working so hard to catch up on
her yearbook. Great work Claire! It looks
fabulous!
•
Children will need to bring an extra t-shirt or
rash vest to wear when they are not
competing.
SPN
Chloe Gallasch - she could be our ‘pin up girl’ for
our school values. What a great year!

Indigenous Tennis Come & Try Day
This week I had the pleasure of taking a group of
students to the Evonne Goolagong 'Indigenous
Tennis Come & Try' day. The day involved being
actively involved in sport through tennis and being
coached by Indigenous coaches who work for the
Evonne Goolagong foundation. Evonne conducted an
inspirational talk about her life and the positive value
of staying in school and being involved in sporting
communities. Her motto ' dream, believe, learn,
achieve' has allowed Evonne to achieve her goal of
being the best women's tennis player in the world
and is a great motto for all students to take away
from the day. Well done to all students who attended
and a big thank you to JulieAnn Mason and Karina
Bandiera for attending with me.
We would also like to thank the RSL Bairnsdale and
David Luckes who has provided the fruit for the
healthy afternoon snack for the children.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been
involved in the program at Lucknow Primary School
over the past 9 years either as a co-ordinator, a
deliverer or a participant. We are certainly proud of
the involvement and success of the program at our
school and how it has encouraged many children to
be active.

The 2014 fundraising committee have put an
outstanding amount of effort into organising
fundraising activities and collecting donations and
sponsors. This is the second year that the children
involved in the Energy Breakthrough Teams have not
been required to pay the usual cost of the trip, which
is fantastic. The total raised with fundraising and
sponsors was $8493.30. Congratulations to all
children and parents who have been involved in
fundraising activities and collecting sponsors. We are
so proud and grateful for your efforts.

The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
Our whole school is collecting donations of food for
people who have less food at Christmas time. It has
to be food that will last a long time e.g. food that is
in tins, packets, boxes, etc. There will be four
collection boxes, one in the office, the junior, middle
and senior wing. Please bring your donations to
school and help support the Salvation Army.
