SURVEYS- Each year we collect data by surveying the parents, students and staff to ascertain how the
community views different areas of school life. The two areas to be surveyed this year are school satisfaction and
the school library and its resources. The analysis of these surveys and recommendations will be printed in the
2014 Annual School Report. The links are:School Satisfaction Survey:- https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/schoolsatisfaction2014
Library Survey:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/surlib
We have commenced developing our 2015-2017 School Plan. The school community is encouraged to have
input to create a shared vision and develop three strategic directions.
The link for this survey is:- https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/schoolplan
The three surveys are to be completed online by Monday 1 December. It is easier to access the links through the
newsletter page on the school’s website. Survey completion is confidential and voluntary. I encourage you to
have an input into the future directions of your school and your child’s education. Paper copies of the three
surveys will be available at the front office if required. I thank the parents who have already completed the School
Plan survey at one of the recent parent forums.
SWIM SCHOOL- A reminder that Swim School commences on Monday 24 November and all notes and money
should have been received by 14 November.
2015 STUDENT COUNCILLORS- I congratulate the Year 5 nominees for the 2015 Student Council who
presented speeches last week. All nominees were well prepared and presented excellent speeches, showcasing
the skills and commitment they would bring to the position. Voting took place last Monday and I will announce the
successful candidates to the nominees on Friday. The names of our 2015 Student Councillors will be printed in
the newsletter next Wednesday. School Captains and Vice Captains will be announced at Presentation Day on
Wednesday 10 December. Voting for House Captains will take place on Monday 1 December and announced in
the Newsletter on Wednesday 3 December.

2015 PLANNING- We have commenced planning 2015 classes. To ensure we have the correct enrolment
numbers and student information please inform the office this week if your child/ren will not be attending Albury
Public School in 2015.
PSSA TOUCH FOOTBALL WEEK 6- The Juniors played extremely well against St Pats Gold. Kynon
French was back to his top form scoring 5 tries. Ally Fowler and Edie Koller were great in defence. It
was a 10-1 win. The Senior Blue played Albury North Blue and won 8-4. The best players were Tess
Kadaoui and Connor Bartasius. Senior Gold had a win against Lavington Brown, 3-1. Ziggy Lamond
scored a great try, Mitchell Nusser and Nicola Baines were also strong. Nadene King, Coordinator.
PSSA SOFTBALL- What a hot morning for sport! This week the Senior Girls team played a strong
Lavington Public School and pulled off a win in the final innings; the final score was 8 runs to 4. Thank
you to Lyndon Robertson for assisting the team. The Senior Boys were beaten by a very competent St
Pats team. Max Byrne hit another home run this week and a big thank you to Toby Lewis for his help with
the gear. Jess Brooker, Coordinator
JUNIOR PSSA TEE-BALL-Last Friday APS Junior Mixed Yellow narrowly defeated Junior Girls Yellow by one
run in a friendly game. Junior APS Girls Blue lost to St Pats by 20 –18 in what was a great game. Junior Mixed
Blue defeated St Pats Green 22 – 7. Some mighty home runs were hit and fielders caught some magnificent
catches. Thanks to Ashley Higginson, Nicole and Tegan Rennie for assisting with the teams.
Lynn Macleod, Coordinator.
2015 HOUSE LEADERS- Stage 3 students will be invited to nominate for House Leader positions in 2015.
Nominations will be held on Monday 24 November and Tuesday 25 November 2014. Candidates are then
required to deliver a short speech (no longer than one minute) that will be presented to students in Years 3, 4
and 5 on Monday 1 December during House Meetings. Students in Years 3, 4 and 5 will then vote for two
Captains and two Vice-Captains. Ms Howard will meet with all the candidates on Wednesday 3 December to
announce the successful House Leaders. Badges will be awarded to each of the House Leaders on Presentation
Day. Successful House Leaders will also be named in the newsletter on Wednesday 3 December.
Jess Brooker, Assistant Principal (Rel.)
REVERSE CHRISTMAS TREE 2014- Once again the families of Albury Public School are invited to place a gift
or a non-perishable food item under our school’s Christmas tree in the office foyer. This year the gifts and
food will be donated to St David’s Uniting Care. This organisation will then distribute our donations to
needy local families to brighten up their Christmases. It would be wonderful if each family could donate
either a gift or a non-perishable food item to the school’s collection. A volunteer from St David’s Uniting
Care will attend our assembly on Monday 15 December to receive our donations. Gifts should be
unwrapped and could be for any age group. Thank you in anticipation of your generosity at this special time of
the year when all like to receive gifts and surprises. Jenny Boehm, Reverse Christmas Tree organiser.
STAGE 3 MORNING TEA- On Wednesday 12 November several students in Stage 3
were invited to attend a special morning tea in recognition of earning 20 Senior Super
Stars. Super Stars are awarded to our students for exemplary conduct in the
playground, classroom and when representing our school.
The morning tea was a casual celebration of achievement and students enjoyed an
array of delicious food. Congratulations to all the students that attended. This morning
tea was a trial in response to feedback from our current Senior students. The trial will continue until the end of
the year when we will ask for feedback from the students for further implementation in 2015.
Jess Brooker, Assistant Principal (Rel.)
LIBRARY NEWS- The library this year has been a busy place. Over 13,000 items have been borrowed
this year. Students who have outstanding books will need to return them before the end of the year.
Borrowing will stop on Friday 28 November with all items to be returned by Friday 5 December. Thank
you for your help with this matter. Alison Griffith, Teacher/Librarian.
PEACE RUN- Last Friday, the Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run
visited Albury Public School. The Peace Run
is a global Torch relay uniting thousands of
communities and striving to spread goodwill
among people of all nations. In Australia,
the torch relay started at Uluru and it will
finish in Canberra next week. We all carry
within us a flame of hope- a yearning for a
better world and a brighter future so it was a
great opportunity to see and carry the peace torch at Albury Public School.
Jess Brooker, Coordinator.
