Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

The Lord’s Flock
Sheep are high-maintenance animals. They are not very intelligent.
Without guidance and care, especially in a climate like Israel's, they
would die quickly from predators, starvation, or just their own slowness.
The scriptural image of us as the Lord's flock is not terribly flattering to
us, since it is only the never-ending diligence of a watchful shepherd that
allows the flock to survive.
The feast of Christ the King was intended to call the world back to
Christ as the sole power of the world, to bring back a flock that had been
scattered by many negative forces of the growing industrial, scientific, and
war-torn world of the early twentieth century. It is fitting that, as we celebrate Christ the King, we hear about Christ the Shepherd who cares for
us and who, likewise, will be there at the end of time. Interestingly
enough, as the Gospel illustrates, our own destiny is determined by the
way we have been "shepherds" to the rest of the flock.

• Adult Faith Formation sessions will resume December
3 at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. We will skip

Eucharistic Procession
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. To help
celebrate this feast as a community we will have a Eucharistic procession following the 12:30pm Mass. The procession is an opportunity for us to highlight the presence of Christ, the King, in the
Eucharist and to deepen our relationship with him through our
prayers and worship. Please come join us for the procession on Sunday, November 23.
• Gala raffle tickets are available in church. Please
pick up a set and return them to the Parish Center
at your convenience.
• Statements of 2014 church support have gone
home with the SPX School students for registered
parishioners. Please call the parish office if you
need additional information.
• We will not have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Seelos Adoration Chapel on November 27 & 28 because of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Advent Candle Procession at Weekend Masses
This year at all the Masses for the Sundays of Advent, we will include in the entrance procession for the Mass, families carrying the
candles of the Advent wreath. Please sign up on the table by the
front doors to participate and help us celebrate the Advent season.
Book of Glory
During the month of November we
place in the Sanctuary our Book of
Glory and we pray for the deceased
friends and family of our parishioners.
Thanksgiving Day Mass and Blessing of Food
We will celebrate Mass at 8:00am on Thanksgiving Day. You are
invited to bring food or drink from your table to be blessed at Mass.
Come join us in giving thanks to God through the Eucharist.
RCIA – Rite of Acceptance
Next Sunday, November 30 at the 5:00pm Mass, we will celebrate
the Rite of Acceptance for those adults in our RCIA program. The
Rite celebrates a step in their faith journey as they prepare to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation with us at Easter. Please remember in your prayers those who are preparing to enter the church –

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

Our Family Prayer
Loving and faithful God, through the
years the people of our archdiocese have
appreciated the prayers and love of Our
Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war,
disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to
you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and
ask you to help us in the battle of today
against violence, murder and racism. We
implore you to give us your wisdom that
we may build a community founded on
the values of Jesus, which gives respect to
the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in
faith. Bless and protect our youth that

This ministry encourages prayer for an increase in religious

Healing Mass—St. Anthony of Padua
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal Street,
New Orleans, will hold its November Healing Mass on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:00pm. The Healing Service follows Mass and will include Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction. There is parking available in the lot behind the church

Holy Spirit Women’s Retreat
Sr. Briege McKenna, OSC, and Fr. Kevin Scallon, CM, will be
the featured speakers at the annual Holy Spirit Women’s Retreat from January 16-18, 2015 at the Hilton Hotel in Lafayette, LA. The theme is “I Thirst.” Sr. Briege and Fr. Kevin are
known worldwide for their teaching and healing ministry with
laity and priests. Sr. Briege was miraculously healed of rheumatoid arthritis as a young woman and sent around the world to
minister God’s healing love. Her book Miracles Do Happen is a
best-seller, and Fr. Kevin is also an author of I Will Come Myself and has produced many beautiful CDs. Also on the program are Deacon Larry Oney, a dynamic preacher, author and
businessman, his wife, Andi, Patti Mansfield and the CCRNO
Team. This retreat is sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic
Renewal of New Orleans (CCRNO) and serves hundreds of

Fellowship of Catholic
University Students
Fellowship of Catholic University Students SEEK2015 is an adventurous five
-day event in Nashville, Jan. 1–5, 2015. Over 7,000 college students will experience Jesus Christ and His Church like never
before, hearing famous Catholic speakers and entertainers and
meeting the Lord face to face in the sacraments. The FOCUS
missionaries at Tulane want to make it as easy as possible for
students to attend. The cost is $400 plus travel. We aim to
raise $18,500 from supporters like you so we can reduce the
cost of the conference for each student to $150. Mother Teresa
once said, "Some give by going, others go by giving." Join us on
our mission by prayerfully considering donating toward our
