The confectionery and chocolaterie Vanparys began as a family business
founded in 1889 by Felix Vanparys, near the fashionable Sablon neighborhood in the heart of Brussels. The recipe and preparation of Felix’s original
dragees are still attentively followed today…either rich Belgian chocolate, or
the finest selection of almonds with a thin layer of sugar coating, all carefully prepared in traditional, rotating copper vats, at precise temperatures,
at an exact number of revolutions.This is the Vanparys heritage, carried on
through generations and present still today. The highest quality, brilliant
colors, a flair for invention and an enduring
pursuit for the perfect taste.
The “iTQi Superior Taste Award” is the only stamp of quality in taste
granted by food and drink opinion leaders that are Michelin starred
Chefs and Sommeliers. The iTQi jury, regrouping 15 different
nationalities, is composed of members of the most prestigious culinary institutions of Europe. More than 60 chefs participated at the
2014 edition.
Similarly to the famous Michelin guide of gastronomy, iTQi does not organize a
competition but rewards products on their own merits. Only products having
received a mark superior to 70% will be granted a « Superior Taste Award »
of one, two or three golden stars.
For its first participation, Vanparys has submitted 4 products, which have all
received a Superior Taste Award up to 2 golden stars.
