MIND GYM: CREATIVE APPROACHES TO SKILLS DEVELOPMENT Interactive workshop to develop creative strategies that make skills development easier and fun for coaches and athletes. InBAR SKILLS AND GIANTS – Breaking down 2 of the most difficult “Basics” on uneven bars. This workshop will include drills, progression and ideas. GA DESIGNATED LAUNCHPAD WORKSHOP – Engaging schools WAG – ALP Getting on top with the WAG Levels 5-6 compulsory floor routine choreography UNEVEN BAR RELEASE MOVES – Prerequisites, lead ups, drills and a plan for major release. It can take 12 to 18 months from introduction of the skill to success. Many of these drills can be done as stations INSTEAD of having gymnasts wait in line or at the chalk bucket! It is a pre requisite to fully complete the pre-course workbook prior to attending your day of training, either online or via the hardcopy workbook/manual. Please note that sufficient verbal and written English skills is required to complete the theory and practical course requirements. VAULTING - OPTIONAL DRILLS FOR YOUR COMPULSORY GYMNASTS. Things to do instead of waiting in line. It is a huge mistake to wait until your athletes reach an optional level to start working optional vaults. This workshop offers drills and lead ups that can and should be done with your compulsory gymnasts to ease the transition to the optional levels. JUMP, MOVE, TUMBLE. Retaining teenage gymnasts by keeping them engaged and enthused. This workshop will focus on Freestyle gymnastics and Team Gym. MAG – POMMEL SKILLS. For the Beginner to intermediate Coach (Level 1 to 6) this workshop will teach the fundamental lead up skills and progressions for this challenging apparatus. ACRO - CHOREOGRAPHY FOR GROUPS AND PAIRS SENIOR FIRST AID COURSE …continued NUTRITION FOR ATHLETES – for general training, pre competition and post competition. Note that this presentation will finish at 12:00pm. YURCHENKO VAULTING Prerequisites, drills and lead ups for round off entry vaults. CHOREOGRAPHY: MOVING FROM THE KNOWN TO THE UNKNOWN A fun and easy way to choreograph for groups utilising everyday movements and the elements of choreography. TRP - BACK TO BASICS. For the Beginner to Intermediate Coach, this workshop will revisit good techniques for essential skill development including basic landings. RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING – Learn how to design and deliver lesson plans for your recreation gymnasts that are ‘fun’ whilst creating an environment that will develop key gymnastics skills. SAFE SPOTTING TECHNIQUES FOR BARS AND BEAM - gain confidence to assist the more mature gymnast using equipment and assistant training coaches (where available) to prepare for and develop the more complex skills. ‘A BASIC TUMBLING PLAN’ – Floor is where all starts is. Master the basics there and then you can go anywhere! TEACHING SKILLS THROUGH FITNESS GAMES AND ACTIVITIES USING GYM MIX RESOURCES. COMBINATION TUMBLING. GO FOR THE BONUS! It is becoming increasingly important to have combination tumbling passes receiving bonus at the ALP or Elite level. Experience some of Tony’s favourite drills and lead ups for bonus tumbling passes. BASIC SHAPES AND BODY LINES – Simple and effective ways to develop and strengthen the most important body shapes used in gymnastics for effective future gymnastics development.
