New Zealand Federation of Women’s Institutes is the largest women’s
organisation in New Zealand which began in 1921 and has remained relevant for
women in town and country communities since then.
The Institute offers friendship and fun, travel and walking groups, involvement in
local communities, encourages leadership, teaches and shares homemaking
skills, as well as providing opportunities for members to be involved in choral,
drama, floral art, and all types of handcrafts and writing. But most of all they offer
friendship and fun.
There are seven Institutes in the Tauranga District Federation - Aongatete,
Ohauiti, Gate Pa/Kaimai, Otumoetai/Omokoroa, Papamoa Sunset, Papamoa
Beach and Te Puke/Paengaroa.

Rural Women New Zealand is a charitable, membership-based organisation
which supports people in rural communities through opportunity, advocacy and
connections.
Its members are diverse but all share rural interests that connect and energise
them. They are the leading representative body promoting and advocating for
rural health, education, land and social issues. It provides information, support,
practical learning and leadership opportunities and has groups throughout New
Zealand. Some groups meet for networking and friendship, often supporting
their local communities through events or fundraising. Others are focused on
education, learning, and facilitating training days and workshops.
RWNZ was established in 1925 by women who wanted better social and
economic conditions for rural people. For over 80 years it has been at the
forefront of rural issues, working to grow dynamic communities in New Zealand.
It’s mission is ‘Strong, Enduring Rural Environments’.
