Jalgaon. Abstract:-This research deals with applied psychology of handwriting, in particular with the use of graphology. Graphology is the study and analysis of handwriting especially in relation to human psychology. In the medical field, it can be used to refer to the study of handwriting as an aid in diagnosis and tracking of diseases of the brain and nervous system. There are two methods of handwriting analysis: Graphology is the method of psychological analysis, while forensic document examination or handwriting identification which is the examination of documents and writing samples by a known source, or person. In this paper relationship between Handwriting analysis and Attitude regarding the college students. 60 college students are participated in this study from Ahmednagar. The age range of sample selected between 18 to 22 years. Research concluded that, there is positive co Relation between Handwriting features with optimistic Attitudes and pessimistic attitude regarding the college student. Keywords: Attitude, handwriting, College Students. INTRODUCTION Graphology has been a controversial field for more than a century. Although supporters point to the anecdotal evidence of thousands of positive testimonials as a reason to use it for personality evaluation, most empirical studies to show the validity claimed by its supporters. Handwriting Analysis the scientific study of handwriting, especially as a guide to the writer’s character. The basis for handwriting analysis is that we project our personality into our writing in much the same way we show our feelings by expressions, gestures or body movements. Gordon W. Alport, the famous Harvard psychologist said that handwriting is “crystallized gesture.” Impulses from our brain dictate the stroke formation. It has been called “brain writing.” Personality trait through handwritten strokes can be used to identify basic nature, emotions, strengths and weaknesses among other traits. Handwriting analysis helps in examining the positive and negative characteristics and attitude of a person and offering the insight to know the others better and also to make constructive changes in your own life. Statement of problem: To study the correlation of Handwriting Analysis with Attitude regarding college students OBJECTIVES 1.To study the relation between Ascending Slope and Optimistic attitude regarding college students. 2.To study the relation between Descending Slop and Pessimistic attitude regarding college students. Hypothesis:1.Ascending Slope is positive correlated with Optimistic attitude regarding college students. 2.Descending Slop is positive correlated with Pessimistic attitude regarding college students. A Co Relational Study Of Handwriting Analysis And Attitudes METHOD: Criteria of Sample Selection: In the present research researcher was select 60 college students by random sampling method. The age range was sample between 18 to 22 years. Researcher was selecting the college students both male and female. Researcher was selecting the college students both right and left-hand-writers. Researcher was select sample from irrespective of faculty (Art, commerce, Science) college students from Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra state. Research Design: For the present study the co-relational design will be used. The will be obtained about the handwriting features and personality variable of college students. Diagram of co- relational design is as follows – Handwriting features (O1) Optimistic-Pessimistic attitude (O2) Variables: 1.Handwriting features (Ascending Slope, Descending Slop) 2.Optimistic pessimistic Attitude Respondent: College students. Research Tools: For the purpose of collecting data about handwriting features, optimistic and pessimistic attitude standardized tests will be used. Handwriting Analysis as projective Technique. To collect the data about the handwriting x the researcher will request the participants to write an essay on any topic on a blank paper. These papers will be later analyzed for handwriting features such as Ascending Slope, Descending Slope. The researcher will be using self-made scoring system for scoring of these handwriting features. Optimistic Pessimistic Attitude Scale (1987) Optimistic Pessimistic Attitude Scale (O.P.A.S.) was developed by Parashar (1987). This scale consists of 40 item and measures optimistic-pessimistic attitude. The test-retest reliability is 0.74 and the face validity is 0.77. Operational Definition of Variables: Optimistic-Pessimistic Attitude: Optimistic Pessimistic Attitude is the score on Parashar’s test. OptimisticPessimistic Attitude measure of Optimistic Pessimistic factor of the attitude. Handwriting : Handwriting is origination in the brain when a mental picture of letters and words is formed. Data collection: After establishing proper rapport with college students on various occasions distributed them the set of psychological tests. After giving proper instructions they fill-up questionnaires completely and request the participants to write an essay on any topic on a blank paper. DISCUSSION: Professional handwriting examiners called graphologist often identify the writer with a piece of handwriting. Accuracy of handwriting analysis depends on how skilled the analyst is. Although human intervention in handwriting analysis has been effective, it is costly and prone to fatigue. Hence the proposed methodology focuses on developing a tool for behavioural analysis which can predict the attitude automatically with the aid of a computer without the human intervention. The most common feature of handwriting that can serve as scheme to attitude and Indian Streams Research Journal | Volume 4 | Issue 12 | Jan 2015 2 . A Co Relational Study Of Handwriting Analysis And Attitudes personality trait are baseline, ascending slop, and descending size of letters, writing pressure, connecting strokes, spacing between letters, words and lines, starting strokes, end-strokes, word-slant, speed of handwriting, width of margins, and others. In this paper the only taken Baseline of handwriting characteristics. Baseline in one‘s handwriting is the line along which the writing flows. The three most common baselines found in any handwriting are ascending, descending as shown in Fig.1. Appropriately each one relates to a specific attitude of the writer. All the participated score on attitude scale score are correlate the handwriting sample for the student. The student handwriting is ascending and descending slope that the positive correlation of pessimistic and optimistic attitude. Champa H.N. and K R Ananda Kumar (2010) finding supports this hypothesis .they found that handwriting and personality trait as pessimistic and optimistic positive correlated. The finding of the researcher the correlation handwriting and attitude are positively correlated. Figure 1: The baselines representing different Attitude type of the writer Baselines Attitude type Pessimistic Optimistic Level Conclusion: Following conclusion was drawn from the study. Correlation is found between handwriting and attitude. The handwriting characteristics baseline show positive correlation with Attitude. It has been found there is no significant different First Born child and Last Born child in terms of their emotional intelligence both the child show that average level of emotional intelligence. 1.Ascending Slope is positive correlated with Optimistic attitude regarding college students. 2.It has been found Descending Slop is positive correlated with Pessimistic attitude regarding college students.
