TRANSFER GUIDE AND PLANNING WORKSHEET Colorado Community Colleges University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Bachelor of Arts Degree – English, Secondary Education This planning worksheet represents a guide for community college students transferring to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and majoring in English, Secondary Education. This guide is not part of the state-wide “60+60” articulation agreement, but can be used to efficiently transfer to UCCS for secondary education licensure. Students who complete this guide will have a remaining 72 hours to complete the degree at UCCS, bringing the total credit hours to 132 hours. Native UCCS students complete 135 total hours. UCCS will only accept transfer courses completed with a grade of “C” or better. A “B-“ or better must be earned in ENG 121, EDU 221, and PSY 238. Courses taken at other colleges, AP, IB, CLEP, and other sources of credit may not be applicable upon transfer to UCCS even if applied to the associate’s degree at the community college. ASSOCIATE OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS (61 Credits): Where possible, choose ‘Required’ (Sections I and II) and ‘Best Choice’ (Section III) courses to apply toward associate degree general education and electives course work. I. Associate of ARTS General Education Courses Communication (6 credit hours) Cr-Hrs ENG 121 ENG 122 Grade 3 3 Mathematics (3 credit hours) MAT 120 Arts & Humanities / Social and Behavioral Sciences, (18 credit hours) Complete the following courses. One course from ANT 101, GEO 105 or GEO 106 is suggested. PSY 101 Complete one course from PHI 111, PHI 112, or PHI 113 Complete one course from History (HI1) Complete one course from the following categories: Arts and Expression (AH1) Literature and Humanities (AH2) Foreign Language (AH4) Complete one course from the following categories: Economic or Political Systems (SS1) Geography (SS2) Complete one additional course from any of the following categories: Arts and Expression (AH1) Literature and Humanities (AH2) Ways of Thinking (AH3) Foreign Language (AH4) Economic or Political Systems (SS1) Geography (SS2) Human Behavior, Culture, or Social Frameworks (SS3) -1- Cr-Hrs 4 Grade Cr-Hrs Grade 3 3 2014-2015 Physical and Life Sciences (9 hours) Complete 9 hours of GT-SC1 courses to include at least one with laboratory. Cr-Hrs Grade Speech (3 credit hours) Select COM 125. Speech is a CCCS graduation requirement, not part of GT-Pathways. Cr-Hrs Grade COM 125 3 Total General Education: 40 Cr-Hrs II. Required Courses for UCCS - English, Secondary Education Major To ensure a minimum of extraneous credit hours, all required courses below must be satisfactorily completed as part of the AA degree within the 61 semester hour maximum. Elective ‘Best Choice’ Courses for Transfer to UCCS - English, Secondary Education Major After completing all required courses in Sections I and II, select ‘Best Choice’ courses below to complete the 60 credit hour AA degree. These ‘Best Choices’ courses facilitate graduating from UCCS with a major in English, Secondary Education in the same time frame as a native UCCS student. ‘Best Choice’ courses are listed in priority order. Complete sequence courses before transferring to UCCS.
