PASTOR’S NOTES
Our Holy Family School
We are fortunate to have our Holy Family School as a
part of the many ministries that serve this community.
That we are able to share the message of Jesus with the
school children each day is a wonderful blessing. I was
reminded of this blessing at our Christmas concert.
Our music teacher, Mrs. Katherine Medics, put together
a program centered on the birth of Jesus that included
instruments, song and dialogue. It was not only
wonderfully entertaining, but was a great way to teach
the children about the birth of our Savior. As a
product of public schools, I marvel at the way our staff
and faculty are able to integrate our faith into all aspects
of the school day. The school day begins and ends with
prayer and there is always grace before and after lunch,
but I see our faith play a role throughout the day. What
a wonderful blessing!
For parents who have young school-aged children, I
strongly ask that you consider the path of Catholic
education. I realize that paying Catholic School tuition
is a huge sacrifice, but don’t’ let the financial cost be a
determining factor. Holy Family is blessed to be able to
offer scholarships to any student in need. We have
never said no to anyone.
CONSIDER CATHOLIC EDUCATION!

“Mary is so closely united to Jesus because she
received from Him the knowledge of the heart, the
knowledge of faith, nourished by her experience as a
mother and by her close relationship with her Son.
The Blessed Virgin is the woman of faith who made
room for God in her heart and in her plans; she is the
believer capable of perceiving in the gift of her Son the
coming of that “fullness of time” (Gal 4:4) in which
God, by choosing the humble path of human existence,
entered personally into the history of salvation. That is
why Jesus cannot be understood without his Mother.”
(Pope Francis)

GUANELLIAN SISTERS
DAUGHTERS OF ST. MARY OF PROVIDENCE
What in particular do I expect from this Year of grace
for consecrated life? That the old saying will always
be true: “Where there are religious, there is joy.” We
are called to know and show that God is able to fill our
hearts to the brim with happiness; that we need not
seek out happiness elsewhere; that the authentic
fraternity found in our communities increases our joy;
and that our happiness elsewhere; that our total selfgiving is service to the Church, to families and young
people, to the elderly and the poor, brings us life-long
personal fulfillment. None of us should be dour,
discontented and dissatisfied, for “a gloomy disciple is
a disciple of gloom”. Like everyone else, we have our
troubles, our dark nights of the soul, our
disappointments and infirmities, our experience of
slowing down as we grow older. But in all these
things we should be able to discover “perfect joy”. For
it is here that we learn to recognize the face of Christ,
who became like us in all things, and to rejoice in the
knowledge that we are conformed to Him, who, out of
love of us, did not refuse the sufferings of the cross.
(Pope Francis)
Don’t forget to pray for all Religious men and
women - especially our sisters – they need it!!

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
This is an opportunity to thank the Lord for being
with us. You cannot help but be blessed by the
graces bestowed upon you when you come
before the Blessed Sacrament. This is a powerful
and effective way to love Jesus and make
reparation for your sins. You may pray, meditate,
read spiritual literature or just listen to His
inspiration and thank Him. Please choose a
dedicated hour and join our 24/7 ministry. Call
Tom Colabufo for details at 487-8377.
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE:
Jesus’ question in today’s gospel is still valid today: “What
are you looking for?” What do you want from your spouse,
children or parents? Families are populated with imperfect
people. To expect perfection is unreal. To expect and
accept imperfection is wisdom.
